It needs to be done , the sport needs to return to the skill of the rider and not the skills of the electronics department to master the machine . Maybe a standard ecu is not the answer , but a ban on all electronic rider aids would be (traction control , anti-wheely ect ).Mr Ezpeleta is right to say this , otherwise we are going to end up with a show like F1 or no show in there case . MOTOGP » Control electronics?

MotoGP may have narrowly avoided the introduction of a control tyre rule for 2008, but Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta has revealed that 'control electronics' could be on the horizon.

Standard ECU's are too much and rules are NOT good if they are too generic. It kills the spirit of the competition. In the end it is a PROTOTYPE class which should normally NOT be limited at all. Brand specific developments like how you control fuel, spark, consumption, power, acceleration etc. should still be possible. TC is a special case which de-humanises the sport too much and that is it, don't go any further (please).

Ask the manufacturers to ban TC to make the sport more human and trust them. Just tell them that DORNA should be able to get all data on fuel/spark/wheelspeed and throttle so they can check in case of suspicion. If guilty they will loose at least their reputation..

I have to admit, I don't think TC is the major benefit to Stoner. He can obviously slide a bike. It was the Bridgestone front that suited him so well, but I digress. I still don't like the electronics. If you can nail a bike off the line, or out of a corner without worrying about a wheelie or a high side the level of skill needed to ride these bikes at the limit is reducing. If the electronics continue to improve then then amount of skill needed to ride these bike at the limit is going to decrease.

Well i know the FIM want to level the playing fill out. But the 21 liter has pretty much choked to bikes to where the engineers can not make anymore horse power so that means. They can not scrafies fuel economy to do the distance which they know already the engineers. So why use electronic control. The point has all ready been made on the track by strinking the fuel load on the bikes. The idea is two once again two control the speed of the bikes so there will be know advantages on the track but just be on the arrow design on the bikes and best handling is going to be the one that makes all the different. I think we need to stop messing around with the regulation to soften up the sport.

I think Darryl has a point. The reduction in fuel capacity has been generally overlooked. The desmodromic valve system of the Ducati is a fantastically efficient system which is patented up to the eyeballs. The other teams are frantically trying other systems to keep up but as yet without much success. Maybe they should all be given a couple more litres. It would be far simpler.

Or be granted the possibility of coming in for fuel, even more F1-ish ;-)
Like i said before, Ducatis ecu has a 'lap counter' in it that leans the engine out towards the end.
That way it never runs out of fuel. Fair? Dunno. Clever? Very.
