It needs to be done , the sport needs to return to the skill of the rider and not the skills of the electronics department to master the machine . Maybe a standard ecu is not the answer , but a ban on all electronic rider aids would be (traction control , anti-wheely ect ).Mr Ezpeleta is right to say this , otherwise we are going to end up with a show like F1 or no show in there case . MOTOGP » Control electronics?

MotoGP may have narrowly avoided the introduction of a control tyre rule for 2008, but Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta has revealed that 'control electronics' could be on the horizon.

Yes, especially Dovizioso is quite explicit about that. But Honda will probably shut him up

The 350's were an interesting intermediate class with Mang on Kawasaki (almost twice double champion)
and ofcourse the sidecars with Dutch couple Streuer/Schnieders against Biland/Waltisperg... bygones are bygones.

In my opinion it is all eliminated to be able to press everything in a 1 hour television format.

Oh, yes. I enjoyed each chapter being played out with its own separate and sometimes inter-related drama...such as Herrero making a 50cc start with Derbi to help Nieto or Sheene stepping in for Kreidler against Derbi. Now 125 and 250 classes are only regarded as stepping stones toward MotoGP. Back when, there were guys like Lavado who never thought of 500 (except when Kenny Roberts talked him into to trying one in practice for Imola iun 1983 in an attempt to take points from Spencer...and Lavado high-sided and never got on a 500 again). The ironic thing is that throttle control is more important today on 250s than on 500s. The new guys freely admitted that at first before the PR guys spoke.

It was translated by me Slow Joe, partially with help of a computer  sorry if it is confusing
I have to redo the computers work as Rossi is translated as 'Red' or 'The red One', factories are translated as 'Houses' and stuff. Besides that I took some excerpts out that I thought would have relevance to the subjects discussed here.

Dennis I will be very sorry to see the twostrokes go, I may be an old fashioned guy but the old division of classes was always very appealing and overseeable and every class had it's charm. You saw that excelled in their class like Dörflinger, Nieto, Lavado and ones that could master all. The step up to the Premier class was bigger challenge than now.

Ezpeleta was speaking at the Ducati presentation and was being asked if his talk about standard ECUs meant that he believed Ducati and Casey owed their success to an electronics advantage. The 250 class is a problem because they can´t run production engines and they don´t want to create a new monster class of true protype 400cc (which is what Honda wants) or 600cc four strokes that would be as expensive as the 800s, but the only alternative is to run a formula with a generic spec engine. And would a class like that be desreving of a World Championship title?

They sure peeled some interesing comments out of him ;-)
He has to stay diplomatic and take a stance at the same time - not easy.
The 250's are planned to be replaced by 600 fourstrokes in 2011,
unclear if it will be a 'prototype class' or if there will be standardized engines.

Ezpeleta was caught in a difficult position by a pretty hard-hitting group of Italian journalists (like sharks, they travel in schools) and he said some strange things...huffing about BMW coming to MotoGP, something that is unlikely, and backing away from what he said about standard ECUs. Typical Dornaspeak. Harryx hit the nail on the head. The discussion about TC is not about whether you are a Rossi fan or not. No one is dissing Casey and Ducati.

Thanks tons Morgue...good, sound comments from all
Re: team roberts Does this mean he'll allow them to enter halfway through the championship, or that he'll let them enter even if he knows that they'll only make it halfway?
Re: 250's in 2011 will this mean they'll run 250 four-strokes? or will they be 400-600 cc 4strokes?
250 four strokes are pretty slow, some bicyclists might be entering, and they might win!

Ezpeleta is full of it? Regards to SBK he is trying to claw back credibility, Its plain to all that SBK is the light as far as filtering new technologies, The 2008 rules have made motogp technology obsolete for road bike buyers for at least 1 year and even further if motogp does'nt change. anouncing Aprilia and KTM is just shots at SBK for Triumph and BMW entering WSS and SBK. Now the manufactures have to race what is availible for us to buy and it has to availible at something like no more than 44K euro or somehing like that. (I dont have the excact figure on hand). Hence things like Data Acquision, slipper clutches, TC, programable ECU's will be standard on bikes cheaper than ever, awsome?

Ezpeleta about WSBK compared to MotoGP: "in the first place one correction: I believe that the MotoGP is the more competitive championship in motorcycling. It is not a problem of costs, the decision to enter more or less he depends on the level of competitiveness. For this we are sure that the BMW, in the close future, could decide to arrive in MotoGP. As far as the Aprilia they told me they will enter in 2010. Important that new factories arrive, but only on condition that they are competitive, otherwise 18 departing riders that are left overare enough and, 44 is the maximum number of riders, 22 would go well, but better 18 all to high level than six pilots more just to fill up the grid. Suzuki and Kawasaki applied for running an extra bike in 2009 that rounds off the number"
