The problem with the M1 is it blows up when they stress the engine to compete with Honda/Ducati top speed.

To the haters calling Rossi 'monkey boy', why? Because he's fun, friendly and one of the best riders ever? Ask yoursef why Rossi as so many fans world wide. Because he's a 'monkey boy' and 'full of excuses'?

He's only lost MotoGP championship twice in the last 2 years? Once because his bike failed multiple times + Elias knocked him off, and Once because the competition had a dominant machine?

Silly boys.

C'mon J H...the only thing you can do in that situation is BE faster through the corners or get left behind, all it means is he was trying harder to keep up, Stoner had no need to be as risky through the bends as he had the total package.

Rossi out performed Gibernau on the same honda in 2003 he then went on to stuff the honda riders on the yam in 2004, so ur sayin ace, that no one rode to their full levels to keep up with rossi?

He's one of the best riders on tracks with long sweeping corners, look at his records, it easily proves it, wins at qatar, mugello, catalunya, assen, donnington (first half of the track), brno and Phillip Island. I remember a certain Carl Fogarty being a bit similar.

like Morgue said, you all get too excited over a headline, why isnt it realistic for yam to only want to be 5km slower at the start than 15..if this had been the case in 2007, rossi wud have won in qatar...but im sure u wont admit it.

well, ur sayin stoner didnt need to take risks to stay with rossi through the corners, i dont think stoner could stick with rossi through the corners, no matter what bike he's on, dont get me wrong, im not knockin stoner's ability, he's class but i dont think there's anyone else in the motogp field who can brake and run through the corners like rossi...

...just look at what he done to everyone at assen last year.

Hi Ace. I think Rossi WAS faster through the corners in China but lost the few tenths he gained in the bends, on the straight (and more) every lap. Eventually you cook the front tyre if you are constantly braking later and later to stay in touch (correct me if I'm wrong, I don't race). I do think Stoner was getting close to Rossi in the bends as the season progresses and he got to grips with the Ducati. As you say had/was the complete package last year. :)

Sepang

Average speed : 165 km/h
Laptime : 2.02 min.
Sepang straight .92 km Vs 5.55 km

Average topspeed advantage on the straight : 5 km/h
220 km/h = 61.1 m/s => 15 s.to cover the main straight
225 km/h = 62.5 m/s => 14.7 s.to cover the main straight

15-14.7= .3 s advantage per straight. Now lets say it would add up to at least 0.5 s. /lap just by having a topspeed of 5 km/h more on the straights alone...

That difference needs to be covered elsewhere as a faster bike on topspeed is typically not slower accelerating out of corners either.

Lorenzo was quick then!
