Ace27 - it's not like PI is the only circuit on the calendar that he's been to before... Think Valencia, Donington, Laguna Seca, Misano, Qatar, Assen and Brno (He's won SBK races at most of them too!). Plus he'll have done a fair bit of testing at Sepang and Jerez.

I'll admit he's got tracks to learn and still has lots to learn about the bike.

Don't be fooled by the easygoing outward personality you see in the paddock. He's a real hard fighter once he gets the leathers on..

Go James!!

Cheers for the reports Saltbush! It's nice to hear unbiased reporting of action at the track for once! :)
I reckon a good season for JT would be a podium and regular top 6 finishes for his first season. Any more than that would be exceptional, but I have no doubts that this year will be THE hardest year of his career so far. So much to learn, so much pressure from being reigning WSBK champ and the only Brit in the pack.

All I want from this year is a classic down to the wire finish with GOOD close racing.
If JT can occasionally get into the action at the sharp end, all the better! :) :)

Brits don't get toooo excited Toseland is not MotoGp Champion yet don't put too much weight on his shoulders. He seems to be very methodical(has he a mechanical background??)doesn't fluster easy and just does his own thing in his own time,,typical Yorkshire trait I believe whoops have I hurt anyones feelings???
Judge him against the other 3 rookies for the time being, both Dovzioso and de Angelis were scary at times and I believe this where Toseland may have an advantage with a grind them down attitude, anyway it will be good to see 4 new faces this year. BTW Of all people although injuried I did like the look of Elias he maybe able to come to grips with the Ducati 2008 could be interesting

JT's a classically trained pianist saltbush, as I'm sure you know. I would've thought you'd need a methodical brain for that.

If he's going to show any 'yorkie' traits, he'd be putting his flat cap on and taking t'whippet down t'pit for a good back scuttle :D :D :D(sorry,I'm a yellabelly, couldn't resist ;) :p)

Seriously though,I think that battle for 'Rookie of the Year' is going to be a corker. I think a lot will depend on how many times they throw it down the road/injuries. The ex-250 campaigners have a reputation for falling when there's no need (especially De Angelis & Dovi), JT when put under pressure (see Misano race 1)

Excellent reporting Saltbush.....I think it is going to be hard for the Brits not to get excited as its been a long time coming for them to have a possible champion again !!

Interesting comment about Elias......It would be good to see someone other than Casey tame the beast !!!

I'm sure you are all aware just how close last years WSBK Championship was. I, personally don't think JT has a problem with pressure. He has come from the 2nd best Championship, to the 1st Championship, ie the GP and judging by his times during the recent tests, can't honestly see him buckling to the pressure of who may be, or maybe not passing him. I have followed his career for many years, and only have the utmost praise, and thanks for what he has done for the sport, whether it be British Superbikes, World Superbikes or now the MOTO GP. I think he will do wonders, but I may be a little biased. Sorry...
