Dovizioso is a fantastic rider, not only is he fast and shrewd, he has also shown great maturity for his age in his comments
and loyalty to his employer. His Honda was way slower than the opposition but he made the best of it.

MOTOGP » Dovizioso: I want to be with the leaders

250cc title runner-up Andrea Dovizioso finished a highly-promising Phillip Island test with the fourth fastest lap time - making him a top-four rider on all three days.

We are going to see great things from Dovizioso,
the most competent and shrewd racer of the rookies 08.
I just wished he had signed for Ducati instead of Melandri.

In a couple of seasons, motoGP will be vastly dominanted by former 250 cc stars,
and that includes Rossi :)

At Phillip Island both Dovizioso and de Angelis were very fast, but many times the bike had control of them, not them in control of the bike, although the old saying goes you can slow a fast rider down you can't make a slow rider fast, at the moment they are both scary and could cause some trouble in a full field so the more practise the better, the Scott bike is very well sorted especially for the first time in the top class, I would say better than the Honda factory team perhaps they haven't too many new parts so have to sort the bike to suit what they have and not just try another new part like Honda seemed to do with Hayden.

It has happened many times, with Rossi, Biaggi and Capirossi and again in 07 with a total domination by Stoner, Pedrosa and Rossi.
Stoner is not 250 champion but he was pretty strong!

I hope all the new guys do well this year. I believe they will be fast but probably a little inconsistent in their first year. I was calling for them to be brought into the class earlier but it probably has worked well waiting to now as they seem to be mentally ready for the big game!

I have never agreed to much with the you can slow a fast rider down but you cant make a slow rider fast, for me there are too many riders who seem to get there foot on the ladder by being blindingly fast but crash every other lap. where as the riders who build up their speed and experience seem to get overlooked, tho the later is more likely to learn something along the way by keeping their backside on the saddle. but thats just my opinion. too many of 125 riders are falling off all the time, and i dont put that down to age. as by the world stage they should of long stopped.

but i dont put dovi in that bracket, for me he is a stunning rider, and a great talent, hes done a great job so far.

Watching Dovi over the last couple of years I think that he is the next big thing in MotoGP. A very mature rider who almost always rides within the limit of his machine. I don't buy the line about running at the front by Qatar - I'm sure he'd like too, but I think he is more likely to finish mid pack most races this year rapidly learning what it takes to be competitive in MotoGP before becoming a real force to be reckoned with in 2009 and beyond.

well see- i rate dovi as highlñy as Lorenzo, although he does lack a bit of agressiveness for moto gp - biger bikes, tighter passes ... but talent wise he s def up there.

Tighter passes than in the 250s? Dude, how many 250cc races have you watched the last couple of years? Usually, the smaller the bikes get, the more aggressively the riders behave. Also, if you wanna judge Dovi's aggressiveness, you should keep the topspeed deficit of the 250cc Honda in mind. Often the only way for him to overtake the Aprilias was by breaking much later than they did. He did that pretty well, if you ask me.

But then, was the Honda really so much worse than the Aprilia that it could explain his huge difference in lap times compared to Lorenzo? I don't think so. Chupa Chups head may not have been as consistent as Dovi, but his sheer speed sometimes was nothing but frightening.
