What do you think the Rossi haters are going to say when they see that time set. Think they'll say Stoner would be faster and have his TC turn off too' I was abit concern about Rossi on these QU tyres but looks like he sorted that one out A

Hi All,
yes the time set today is very good, there is more to come from the engine performance too.

Morgue, we was talking about electronics & engine management & the crucial fuel management problem of last year.

Rossi has commented today that that now looks as if it's finaly been sorted but also hinted there is a little more power & elctronic upgrades to come out of Japan.

This bodes well & let's not forget that the bike will get even better with more data & the more he get's used to the Bridgestone tyres the more the times will come tumbling down.

He also commented he has hardly touched the selection of bridgestone tyres available to him.

Thanks Nigel :)

Yeah I hope they got is sorted because there's nothing more silly than being left without juice before race end.
Did you know they also switched to their own oil brand (Yamalube) as of this year?
Keep it up!

Yea Morgue I did as I'm a member of Insider at Yamaha so get the mag & also visit the site regulary to see if there's owt new to read about my favourite sport and of course Valentino.

I will have a look at that Oil as I own a Subaru impreza 2.0 STi but a 450bhp modded version which I use Silkolene fully synthetic engine oil in & it get's a oil change every 5k to keep it in nice running order, those engines like the oil to be changed & need a fully synthetic oil to take the pasting it gets.

Anyway back to Motogp and I think me & you were spot on with this earlier on when we was talking about this power problem with Yamaha, I suspect that the power is now there & the managements there too!

JH..You mention taller riders. I am not from a biking background however find MotoGP far more exciting than F1. Can somebody tell me how a higher centre of gravity affects bike handling on a grippy track. I know with a go kart a higher centre of gravity will produce more grip up to the point of the kart starting to bounce. Is chatter on a bike the same where a high level of grip is overcome by a high centre of gravity causing the tyres to bounce and loose contact with the track? If the principles are the same bikes with a high CG should also be good in the wet. I note Suzuki and Kawasaki have high CGs. Good in the wet and ordinary in the dry over longer distances?

On a bike you want the centre of gravity to be low because you have to flick them from side to side. The further away from the pivot point (tyre road contact patch) the CG gets is, the more force is needed.
You can notice it on a road bike with a large fuel tank, the difference between full or empty is enormous, one of the reasons why the MotoGP bikes have theirs mounted low (under the 'saddle')
You could argue that a heavy rider is a disatvantage so high up on the bike but he needs his mass/strenght to make the bike change direction. A motorcycle is very stable hen moving, the gyroscopic force of the rotating parts wants to make it go on in a straight line. The rider transfers hisbodyweight

Thanks Morgue..I understand how a gyro works and also that to apply a force that force is felt at 90 degrees from the point(I think from memory it is called precession)of application so the lower the CG you should be able to get more turn or steer effect as you are closer to that 90 degree rule from the tyre contact point. This explains why Ducati have such a low seat height. It also indicates that these MotoGP riders have to be really fit. Have you noticed the size of Stoner's hands at the end of a race. They are really pumped. We should see some close racing this season. Thanks again.
