Nicky Hayden:

"This engine spec is the spec Dani chose to go with for the valve-spring. It's smooth and easy to ride, but its overall performance isn't real high."

-----------

So Pedrosa chose the engine - yet now he can't test it due to injury - leaving Hayden to develop a bike with an engine not suited to him.

How about they let Nicky Hayden use the engine HE WANTS.

MOTOGP » Honda's engine dilemma continues…

"Before I would have said 'yeah sure, we'll race the pneumatic-valve', but now maybe we're going to be on valve-springs" - Nicky Hayden.

Honda 4stroke just don't like Americans an Australians;) what happened with Bayliss in Honda everybody know...Hayden should leave this team to even other satelite Honda or the rest
Even you may thing his victory in 06 was not so strong, he deserve a better support

I agree that the Jeremy Burgess was critical to the Repsol/HRC's success, and his leaving at the end of 03 was probably more of a blow to Honda than Rossi's defection.
Interestingly in the four seasons since 2004 the factory Repsol team have only won 7 GPs in total. (Hayden 3, Pedrosa 4).
In the same period satellite Honda teams have won 14 GPs. (Milandri 5, Gibenau 4, Tamada 2, Biaggi 1, Barros 1, Elias 1)
It appears that Stuey Shelton just isn't in JB's league when it comes to bike developement. :p

Quote "06 does not count as rossi lost it anyway "da pressure ya know" Nicky just had to stay upright!"
A championship cannot be lost. It can only be won. :)

I've got a couple of points here:
1) Saying that Honda "built the pneumatic valve engine" for Nicky is stupid. They didn't build it for him. They built it for themselves. Most riders in MotoGP are intellgent enough to leave decisions like that to the engineers and not just have a case of the 'gimmes' like a 2 year old. Nicky did not demand an air-valver from Honda just because everybody else had one. Honda realized they needed one in order to have a chance of being competetive in the future.
2) How dysfunctional is that Repsol garage going to be now? Neither rider trusts the other one for development. They both want different engines. Making jabs at eachother in the press. Like walking

on glass in there. Doesn't seem like it's gonna clear up.
3) I read everybody saying how Nicky should leave Honda after this year. I've recently had something come into my head that is a very disconcerting situation that could very well occur. Is Honda even going to want him after this year? I say this as a huge Nicky fan. Trust me. I got a knock on the door from a few of my neighbors in my apartments about the noise from jumping up and down the day he won the title.... But anyway. If things continue this year as they did at the end of last year, his reputation my very well be incredibly devalued. They might say "Well, your results weren't all that great for this contract period so we can't

renew you here at Repsol. But we'll see if we can do some needling with Lucio and see if we can slot you in at LCR with the bike you rode this year." I really hope he gets a bike he can work with for 2008 or that could be the end of his tenure as a factory GP rider. It's sad to me,but very possible. And about what was said on the first page with him for Kawi with Hopper. What a combo that would be! Hopper has resented Nicky from the moment he stepped into GP on a factory Honda. There'd be fireworks with that if it happened. Alright,I'm done. Hope you all enjoy.

This is a great thread. Lots of great input and opinions. Let's remember that HRC is getting PAID by a Spanish sponsor (Repsol) and they,(REPSOL) have HUGE input on how DEVELOPEMENT dollars will go!! PERIOD! That's why they have Wee Man's engine choices, that's why Hayden and crew's pleas for correct changes fall on deaf ears!! I would go home early also if I were Hayden. To top it all off the little ***** Da******, said his fall was not his fault but the bikes fault! How embarrassing for him and his crew and Repsol for that matter! Anyone who has followed Hayden's career closely will know that he knows how to set up and develope a race bike. ---Slideways151---

engineers are human riders are part human.
like any relationship if there is no chemistry if there is no communication if you don't understand your partner it wont work!!!!
JB is a great engineer Rossi is a great rider but the magic is the communication between them. they understand each other like no other rider/eng' team in the paddock.

Great imput Crarrs, lot of good points. I would love to bet that Honda really does love Nicky, but have got to go with dollars (Spanish sponsor, Repsol). I think Nicky is getting paid very well by Honda and that just maybe, Nicky should look for different management?????? I don't have all the facts on this issue, but it sounds like Nicky's manager is not doing him enough justice. Maybe Honda is promising them more, but then get their hands tied, so to speak, from Repsol??? Again, I have no facts, but some real good thoughts on this. What do you guys think? --Slideways151--
