2007 was a rookie year for everyone tho, it was a fresh start.

new bikes and no data for any races, apart from the tracks they tested at.

like i've said before, when stoner went to ducati and bridgestone, something clicked and it clicked big time, anyone can see stoner has talent...all i want is to see all the bikes and tyres level on performance so that there is no more petty arguments on who is the best rider.

I think stoner's great..but he's no rossi, as much as people will argue it, he's no rossi...not yet.

I saw launch control at work on Nasa TV an hour ago when they launched the STS-122 Space Shuttle mission,
always spectacular :p
(not as good as MotoGP though ;-) )

Complaining about TC, Launch Control etc is totally irrelevent as they all have these anyway! so no one has an 'unfair' advantage based on the rules. Teams and riders choose their beds and lie in them so to speak, excuses are for the weak of mind and losers ;)

When have bikes and tyres 'ever' been level on performance in the premier class... Anyone here remember Agostini!
I always look out for how well a rider overcomes set up defficiencies during a race such as wrong rubber compound selection, less than ideal suspension settings, race position pressure/response etc to rank any riders real talent, perform in the wet. A wet track speaks volumes about a riders "REAL" talent.

A wet track used to speak volumes. Now the computer does.

You're right about the wet races Marty. They seperate the strong from the weak. Look at the almost 4 second gap Rossi demolished in 2007 at Japan when he caught up with and passed Melandri and Stoner only to watch them pit on the next lap. Also, I think all riders could take notes from Rossi's victory in Donington in 2005. He was pretty much at full throttle once he cleared the pack. I think he was adding like a additional 1.5 second gap a lap on 2nd place every lap till the end of the race. In the wet! Valentino Rossi......... What a true Champion!

You are right Marty, there is no unfair advantage. Some systems work better than others. Before too long most manufacturers will have chatched up and performances will be closer. Seems Yam's engineers and Rossi getting better in utelizing TC etc..
"A wet track speaks volumes about a riders "REAL" talent" - isn't that where todays TC make the biggest difference?
