motogp is not about the best Tyre or best bike or best rider.
it is about the best combination of best at every thing together...
last year stoner had the best combination every thing fell in place every thing worked together perfectly.
rossi i known to be able to ride around problems, win races from the 10 place on the grid, chatter problems and so and so...
when ill see stoner do the same win races not on the fastest bike with grip problems then ill say he is a good as rossi!!! ;)

I was @ PI in 06. In the practice, the best guy to watch was Marco,
Watching him on the last turn before the straight,
setting up to go down pit lane, He does the best Powerslide..ever!
And he did the same in the race, but powersliding down the front straight,
one handed to win!!

"So Jason...what is it ..first you said "hard" then you say "dirty"? make up your mind...so the rest of us can understand where are you coming from "

I meant that he's willing to make hard passing manouvers. Not to be a dirty rider. Some people consider rubbing fairings and touching mid way in a corner etc "dirty racing" but I think thats just hard racing. I was using "getting his hands dirty" as a metaphor for hard racing and getting stuck in. I think a dirty rider is someone that has the sole idea of making the other rider he is trying to pass crash with un unreasonable move.

Kees..Late braking only works once as any rider worth their salt will alter their track position next time around to further narrow the line for the overtaking rider who eventually runs wide gets on the marbles and looses two seconds plus in the exercise. The one that really gains out of all of this is the rider sitting behind the scrapping pair.
Getting back to the Yamaha engine with it's straight 4 configuration will it ever be able to match the V4s? It has a longer crankshaft which usually means heavier,it has five main bearings as opposed to three on the V4(more friction). With Ducati probably approaching 300HP per litre(same as F1)what is the theoretical limit of the IL 4? Cont>>>

Cont>>Is the Inline 4 limited to say 270HP per litre and possibly slower to accelerate due to the long crank plus will it used more fuel for a given output due to more bearings? Low end power delivery on these engines can now be better managed by electronics rather firing order which limits top end power. Honda cannot be too far off the mark as Perdosa passed Stoner in a straight line from memory in the last GP last year so their engine must now be in the performance ballpark. Does anyone know the weights or each of the riders in MotoGP as the lighter ones can probably run an engine setup that offers more at the top end as they may not need as much down low.

sure..there is a lot of info on the weights of riders. i usually see it on the official motogp site where you look into their profiles. I guess heights are important too and how physically they fit into the configuration and anatomy of the bike as well.
Rossi is around 60kg and Stoner lighter a few kgs but also shorter. Pedrosa is quite light -under 55 I think but also short.Lorenzo quite light, Melandri and Capirossi are a bit heavier for their height comparing to Pedrosa but not much around the 57kg mark. Hopkins quite heavy around 70kg..

Thanks Gina..It is no wonder Hayden does not like the setup of the Pedrosa engine as it would be setup for Pedrosa's light weight 51KG Vs 69KG. Hayden,Rossi, and Edwards are in the 67-69KG bracket. I assume the legal bike weight is without a rider. For Hayden to have the same power to weight ratio as Pedrosa he would need an extra 20 odd HP but still with the same 21 litres of fuel to go the distance. Forget about introducing a standard ECU to get parity in this field but rather assume a rider's weight to be 70KG then add that to current minimum bike weight for 218KG odd with rider when they come in off the track with whatever fuel remains. Only then will we see who is the best.

PS..Also add the approximate weight of the riders gear(helmet, gloves, leathers)to the 70KG as well. With these weights TC will be less relevant for some who rely on it now. How would Pedrosa perform with 20KG of lead in his saddle bags to bring him on par with Hayden? A higher combined weight would also allow slightly larger riders to be compete rather than all ex-250 jockeys.
