#2 means "i beat rossi"... he's rubbing vale's face in it.

the story is ridiculous tho. you don't put the number of wins on your plate. you put the # of the position you finished in.

otherwise stoner would be #10 :rolleyes:

MOTOGP » Pedrosa becomes number two

Dani Pedrosa will drop the #26 and ride with the #2 on the front of his Repsol Honda for the 2008 MotoGP season. Pedrosa finished second in the 2007 world championship, with two race wins, and - according to a statement from the team - has made the number change as part of a tradition 'which dictates that a rider bears the number that reflects the victories obtained during the previous twelve months'.

@chu chu

So? How experienced were they in 250's when Dani was riding. And on the same token 250 is not MotoGP. Doing well in 250 does not always mean a rider will do well in MotoGP. And a rider who maybe was just a little off the pace in 250's could be stunning on a MotoGP bike.

What I'm saying is comparing now to what happened 3 years ago in a different category doesn't really mean much today. Especially as these new guys are rookies in MotoGP, so we are probably going to have to wait until '09 to see how they really compare.

The only reason Pedrosa came second was that Rossi crashed and hurt his hand otherwise he had never beaten Vale
