I never thought I'd say this about a top Japanese bike racing boss, but I quite like this Furusawa. He comes across quite well, bit of a sense of humour and isn't shy with the technical info. Also, when was the last time a HRC official (for exmaple) said he had respect for a rider's style and wouldn't ask him to change it to suit the bike unless he had to? (As Furusawa said about Lorenzo).

be interesting to see if the other teams have found more or less than the 5 extra horsepower yamaha will have this weekend at Jerez. Guess we'll be able to tell by seeing if the top speed order (factory bikes) is still roughly: 1) Ducati 2) Honda/Kawasaki(?) 3) Suzuki/Yamaha.

MOTOGP » Yamaha: Five more 'ponies'...

"We have added five 'ponies' compared to last year's engine, but we will need another three or four by the first race" - Masao Furusawa.

As the constructor of the worst bike in 2007 I would be a bit more cautious than this Yamaha man. Without Rossi Yamaha would have been the joke of the series. Let's see what comes this year.

I'd say Honda gained far more than 5 ponies throughout last season and will probably have found a few more during the off season (certainly with the spring valve motor). All the other manufactures would have done the same as Yamaha over the winter, more or less, so lets hope the last 3 or four can be found quickly. Yamaha need one pony a week!

It depends on the kind of pony ofcourse,
Your average Shetland pony will produce less than an Icelandic horse, also a pony but on of the biggest. :p

Yes, it's true. I drive an Italian car and I'm sure Italian ponies must be smaller than German ones (My wife drives a German car with less horses but it goes much better) :)

Hi all,
well well Ace27, you never fail to amaze me, just for being so full of **** about Rossi.

All the people on here that sya's Rossi has no hope are just very jealous people.

You guys would do well to remember just what Yamaha did in 2004 in rossis first year there, you seem to forget.

Casey did well last year, but let's get things into perspective, where were the competition?

Yamaha know exactly what they have done wrong & have addressed it, they have also taken into account any more ponies the likes of Ducati may have added in the new packages.

As someone said earlier the fact that Valentino has switched to Bridgestone will give him more ponies. cont..

and i have to agree, you see the bridgestones race tyre grips much better, is so much more consistent over a race distance.

This year Casey has not got the same luxury of Rossi on a lacklusture bike struggling with horse power & massive grip problems.

He has not got a worried rossi over his recent tax problems, that's all sorted now & behind him, he has said that now that's done & dusted he can relax & concentrate on the job in hand & that's re gaining the Motogp world championship, & beleive me when he speaks he's very genuine & means exactly what he says.

In a recent interview about the bike tyres ect, he was more than happy about this new bike.

The Jerez test will be very interesting. Will there be any race simulations? Or just focusing on getting the beamer?

Is it a one day test? The countdown on motogp.com says 2days, 13 hours.
That´s on sunday...
