I never thought I'd say this about a top Japanese bike racing boss, but I quite like this Furusawa. He comes across quite well, bit of a sense of humour and isn't shy with the technical info. Also, when was the last time a HRC official (for exmaple) said he had respect for a rider's style and wouldn't ask him to change it to suit the bike unless he had to? (As Furusawa said about Lorenzo).

be interesting to see if the other teams have found more or less than the 5 extra horsepower yamaha will have this weekend at Jerez. Guess we'll be able to tell by seeing if the top speed order (factory bikes) is still roughly: 1) Ducati 2) Honda/Kawasaki(?) 3) Suzuki/Yamaha.

MOTOGP » Yamaha: Five more 'ponies'...

"We have added five 'ponies' compared to last year's engine, but we will need another three or four by the first race" - Masao Furusawa.

I think I posted this one already, but I guess by now I am sorry to say that this kind of information can't be read by the aussies as it is written in english and not in australian hence...

Can anyone translate please??

Anyway guys, lets cut the crap and agree that Stoner did a heck of a job in 2007 and he and Ducati made the japanese and the grid feel like beginners.

Now also try to kind of accept that CS is NOT running the lowest level of TC and that he let's TC and the powermapping by his engineers do the job in his favour... :)

I think you guys are minunderstanding the gain of 5 hp. It's not 5hp from the valve spring engine from the beginning and mid '07 season bike. They're talking about 5 more on the pneumatic engine that they raced a couple of times towards the end of the season. If you watch the straight line speeds from the beginning of the season and at the end of the season, you'll see that Vale was much faster on the latter races and in fact pretty much wasn't letting the Duc pull away and wasn't letting the Honda's and Suzuki's pass.

So 5hp on the old engine would be disasterous. But 5hp on top of their already well performing pneumatic engine is fantastic news.

scareyh22a,
I like it, yea u have a very good point there, something I have to admitt i had'nt taken into consideration.

As for comments about Rossi & co & the Japaneese getting their asses kicked last year by Stoner yea we all know that & it was accepted, we have not said that casey did'nt deserve it or he's not a worthy champ etc.

There is 1 question I have to ask though how good will he be when his competition has a chance to fight with him on virtualy equal machinery?

We don't know do we about Stoner, however we know from past History that if given the right tools to do the job a 7 time world champ will do the job, that's something Rossi has proved in recent years.

Quick question off topic. Does anyone from the States know if there is anyway to watch the practices, qualifying etc on tv here in the states?? This has finally got to the point of being ridiculous not being able to see anything other than 1 hour of racing which is really 30 min if u include the commercials. I'll pay extra to get a channel that shows. any help on this would be appreciated..thanx

You could always spend about £25 and watch all qualifying and racing for the whole of 2008? MotoGP.com Otherwise the BBC always show the whole race with no commercials... Crap commentary though... Eurosport is best with Moody, Ryder and Mamola commentating... when the adverts come on we all just switch onto BBC2 for a few minutes

Yeah funny how the observers at PI say the opposite....ask Saltbush.

I didnt realise saltbush was part of casey's (and everyone elses) electronic control team.

Could saltbush provide us some details about how casey's control system works in comparison to Rossi's or edwards. because he obviously knows how much TC was used, even though rossi was not there?
He is part of their teams, right?

kim jones;I am sworn to secrecy on the settings the riders used with TC otherwise I wouldn't have the vast knowledge about all things to do with MotoGp, although if you have a pertinent question relating to Rossi's setting I maybe able to help for a price as he has a hugh tax bill to pay, so any donation would be appreciated.

So what you are saying is that you actually have no idea what level of tc casey used, adn you are basing all on listning to a bike as it goes past.

Great skill, I am sure you could market that to somebody and donate some money to teh Rossi Tax Fund.
