I never thought I'd say this about a top Japanese bike racing boss, but I quite like this Furusawa. He comes across quite well, bit of a sense of humour and isn't shy with the technical info. Also, when was the last time a HRC official (for exmaple) said he had respect for a rider's style and wouldn't ask him to change it to suit the bike unless he had to? (As Furusawa said about Lorenzo).

be interesting to see if the other teams have found more or less than the 5 extra horsepower yamaha will have this weekend at Jerez. Guess we'll be able to tell by seeing if the top speed order (factory bikes) is still roughly: 1) Ducati 2) Honda/Kawasaki(?) 3) Suzuki/Yamaha.

MOTOGP » Yamaha: Five more 'ponies'...

"We have added five 'ponies' compared to last year's engine, but we will need another three or four by the first race" - Masao Furusawa.

If somebody standing on the side of the rack thinks that Casey uses less TC, but the person who shares the garage with him says he uses a heap, who are we to believe. They both have such compelling stories.

If anybody is going to Jerez for the whole 3 days any chance of posting an objective view of the riders over the 3 days, not just one fast lap on qualifiers this would really be appreciated by people outside of Europe, where anything to do with MotoGp would effect their country's national security. I would like a view on Elias I just think he may open a few eyes on the Ducati if he is fit and not injuried. Thanks in advance.PLEASE :) :) :)

A popping or banging engine mid corner to exit could indicate a primitive TC sytem. No popping or banging could indicate no TC OR the rider is so close to the point of TC intervention that TC does not take over totally and dramatically. If Stoner is working his TC system perfectly externally you should not be able to tell if he is using it or not. I suspect Stoner could turn his TC off on a particular corner after
after data has been gathered which is the fastest way around a corner with TC initially on. Stoner could feel what the TC was doing in those initial sessions and then evaluate whether he could do better without TC or whether the TC needed adjusting for the conditions.

i don't really know whats all the fuss with the TC?
it is legal ya? the launch control is legal ya?
so if you ride better with it then good for you!!! what are you trying to say that Casey is less/more talented then other riders who cares!!! the important thing is who crosses the finish line first. if melandri cant use the TC the boohoo.
i just hope racing will be real close this year...

5 Hp more on the new engine that struggled to finish a race last year and they want more.... HMM should be interesting, con rods in the track anyone.
It would also be interesting to know how much extra fuel this will burn too...
2008 is going to be a good year me thinks.

scooter.
more power doesn't always mean more fuel...
Suzuki just posted "We have lower fuel consumption, and this matched to higher engine output and an easier to ride bike"
bring on 2008!!!

I have done no such thing, and I have yet to slag you off. Perhaps you like making unsubstantiated claims?

anybody know what is the average coefficient of drag for motogp bikes ( + a non midget rider)? how many additional mph would 5hp on the top end bring?
