Heres another point. HRC may keep him because of his earning potential for the team. NH is still the most successful "current" American racer. He pulls crazy publicity and sponsors. Not to mention he is a former WC regardless of how he got it. So his marketability is a huge factor. HRC may not be ready to part with that asset and give it too another team just yet.

How long has Colin been with Yamaha and he has NOT won a race in his entire career? Suzuki offered Hopkins MAD money to stay and he also has ZERO wins in 6 years of MotoGP racing.

ALL things considered NH it still a lucrative asset to HRC.

MOTOGP » Hayden, Dovizioso defiant after falls

Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso made no apologies for their separate Estoril falls from fourth position, which both claimed was simply the result of pushing as hard as possible.

Pity about binning it, he was having a decent race, maybe could have got a podium. But he''s been around long enough to know the limits of his tyres and under the circumstances maybe settled for keeping his employers happy and putting some points on the board. Much as I like Hayden as a person, I can''t see him keeping his job on these performances, his team mate is making him look foolish and there are better riders out there who would realise the potential of the bike.

All of Hayden's team mates have been superior at the World level.Pedrosa has performed better from the very beginning, and now he is even that much better than Hayden.

So what do you think: Dovi to Repsol Honda next year?
I also like Nicky, but as a rider he just cannot get this 800cc bikes to suite his riding style...

If Pedrosa performed better at the very beginning then why didn't he win the championship in his first season?

I've got to hand it to both of these guys for not just settling for 4th position, but for trying to fight for a podium.

I don't think HRC is looking for somebody who will settle for 4th just to bring home points. It's a long season so don't be handing out the Repsol ride just yet. I agree that Hayden is gone if he doesn't win some races this season. Tech 3, maybe?

China is going to be tough for Honda. Pedrosa goes well there, but the Yamaha's look to have more engine than the Honda's. I can't imagine that sits well with the bosses at HRC. Look for that pneumatic engine soon.

I keep suffering stick from the Hayden massive because i slag him off alot, but you have to admit he doesn't do himsef any favors, and compared to his rivals he struggles, he is consistantly crap for a rider that i keep being told is great, as others have said in different comments, one flukey world championship dont make a great rider!!!!!! of course he's good, they are all good but he aint that good.

Being a NH fan, i have to concur with the consensus. If NH doesn't win races this year, hes done at Repsol. Hes easily a top 5 rider but hes not great like Rossi or Casey. I don't see him going to Tech3 tho. NH has a long history with Honda and i don't see him settling for anything less then a factory ride.

I also agree that Dovi will probably replace him next year. Honda will offer NH Dovi's or Nakano's seat at Grensini, Ducati could pick him up after they dump Melandri or he could take Ant Wests seat at Kawasaki after they dump him too. But I Still think joining Ben Spies at Suzuki will be his best choice. But i wont be surprised to see him in Ducati leathers in 2009.

I do not think it is fair to compare Colin's MGP career to an HRC ride?
Look at Colin's WSB career and title(s) and how he got the last one and who it was against! That stopped any "Colin trashing" that I ever did!As for Dani vs Hayden?
How many race wins in how many years??Two times a race winning 250cc Worlds Champion!Race winning is important to me,not points chasers.Whether Nicky is a points chaser by design or default?I think default, because here he won a fair amount of races actually while in our various "diesel classes" here in the states.Thank you very much and have a nice day!He may have marketability beyond his worth?Good for him.Gammaman out!
