"It's not an easy situation to resolve with Marco," Suppo told the official MotoGP website. "We have to try to understand if there is something on the bike that just suits Casey, or if it is just a feeling of Marco's.

Sounds to me that suppo has admitted that the bike is developed and setup around stoner. It would be good to see Biaggi develop the bike and help fix Marco's problems.

This story is generating some publicity, which could be one of the major reasons they announced it to begin with? I don't think it criticizes Stoner's ability as a rider or WC at all; the reason they are contemplating even doing this is to figure out what it is about the bike that their other 3 riders can't seem to get the performance that CS gets out of it.
I believe Stoner will be back on form at China- these past few tracks were their worst results from last year. He sure didn't seem like he had lost it at Qatar.
I am looking forward to see what Troy can ring out of the GP8 as his style seems a lot like Stoner's.
They should get two types of feedback as their styles are very different. :D

This is old news - I am amazed it has taken Crash this long to post what was on Italian and American websites ages ago.

Ducati need to find out whether Marco is a faded rider trading on past glories - if he is then it would be sensible to find out early. He probably isn't, but his confidence is so shot to peices he probably can't give any useful feedback. He is probably totally lost, going round in circles trying to find a base setting. Bayliss and / or Biaggi might be able to help find a base setting for that bike.

Not only did Ducati try to recruit Checa into a lucrative test role, but Chaz Davies also turned that gig down - Ducati obviously know that Guareschi isn't fast enough.

Some of you like to push the idea Casey doesnt know whats happening, well he does, he has stated many times he's suffering front end vagueness, no front end feeling, no feedback, its a real issue for riders some may not understand. This is most likely causd by a diff front tyre, its a BS issue.
Seperate from that is the rideabillity of the GP8, You Rogers out there cant admit the bike is really hard to ride, and Casey is talented enough to win on it.
Its not a case of "developed" for Casey....it never was, each rider can "tune" the bike for there needs, suspension, EFI/CPU, TC, every rider has there own settings, thats how it works.
Livio needs to know why its hard to ride, thats the deal

I wonder what will be the repercussions if the two big guns fail to get the results. A drop in Ducati's stock and desirability among the riders will be not be unlikely.

Stoner is not in such a bad position as his current championship standing might imply. Last year he won in Qatar, didn't win in Jerez and didn't win in Estoril. Exactly the same has happened up till now. He might be finding the competition stronger this year but then again judging by the way he dominated last year he is still one of the favorites for this year.

For one thing, I am starting to dislike the whole "This is a X tyre track and this is a Y tyre track" thing. Bring in a control tyre and let the real racing start.

One more thing: I disagree that Capirossi developed the bike for Casey. Casey was able to win races right from the start, on an "undeveloped" bike.

This sounds like fun.... cant wait to hear what Troy has to say about the GP8. This cant happen soon enough I reckon as it will bring to light yet again the Aussie advantage! ;)

Theres a bloody good chance Troy could do similar lap times to Casey out of the box... but I really cant wait to see just how Max then goes in comparison

Furthermore, Ducati's corporate ethos is like Honda's: The company builds and develops the bike, the rider finds his preferrable settings and rides it. It's not what Rossi wants to do: Ride the bike and ask for X Y and Z things to change and with X.Y and Z meaning not only settings but more important things like engine configuration and the like. So it seems to me that Capirossi didn't play as big a part in the development as to completely overshadow Stoner in that department.
