Jimmy, because last year Honda and Yamaha had inferior bikes and crap tyres .... i think that was one of the main reasons ...

chu - as you saw from the later post on comparative lap times, the GP8 was faster at Qatar - in cold conditions in which BS don't normally do well - so the development work done to then had worked (and don't forget Stoner was out of action for parrt of the time) and then Ducati / BS have changed something fairly radically and stuffed the bike up. OK, if Stoner was maybe Doohan, or Rossi, he'd probably have been able to kick it back into line quickly, but something has come seriously unglued and Ducati need more development time than the race riders are allowed to run on the bikes

Rossi couldent develop a cold, Burgess is the magic man, FFS send him to Ant West and Kawasaki and he'll turn it around as fast as the yamaha.

if it ain't broke don't fix it, Ducati fixed it, what does it prove if bayliss or biaggi are faster than the other Ducati riders it proves that Ducati picked the wrong riders for 2008, if bayliss and biaggi are slower Ducati should unfix the beast

Welcome back Ace !

The great unwashed have been trying to take over here since your absence but we have fought on with true Aussie passion and grit.

It's not easy as crash is a pommy site and they have been deleting anything nearing reality about Rossi and his fanboys.

woof woof ..

lol Ace - yeah right. If Burgess went to kwak to help out Westy, he'd probably recommend building a speedboat for him and tell him to concentrate on watersports full time ;)

After hearing the Kawasaki screamer sound, I realized that Ducati problems is not fully coming from the bike. It is because Ducati were using Screamer engine and it's need a lots of pushes and different setups from the rider like in 500cc days.

Jerez, Estoril and Sachsenring always be the Bridgestone problem. They need a very good Q tires for these track apart of small problem rise on front tire grip recently. Stoner don't have to develop the bike for others. He just need to continue is way and enjoying defending his title as Ducati given his freedom to shape the bike on his direction.

While Melandri facing what Bayliss had in the past on Honda Pons. Marco need to adapting Screamer fast..

Ducati are bringing Max and Troy to test not because they underestimate Stoner and Melandri but because Ducati want to carry out tests on Motogp tracks, like Mugello, and Stoner and Melandri are not allowed to test on Motogp tracks if not on the pre-establised dates.

could sum it up by saying that Casey was able to perfectly interpret our GP7, which had been impeccably built and maintained high levels of competitiveness and excellent reliability throughout the season. The Bridgestone tyres also took a step forwards in terms of performance consistency, thanks to our successful joint efforts which had begun in 2005 and allowed us to basically close the gap with Michelin."

"Our 2008 bike is an evolution of the 2007 model, how could we have done otherwise? There was so very little wrong with that bike," continued Domenicali before analysing the new bike's technical characteristics. "We worked on all areas.

In terms of chassis set-up, the new frame is lighter with optimised torsional and flexural rigidity to solve the rather minimal "chattering" that we experienced on a few occasions last year. The rear suspension geometry is also different to reduce the 'pumping' effect observed in certain tracks and in special conditions. As for the engine, we worked on two areas. First of all, performance. We introduced a number of modifications to minimise friction and obtain a small power increase without affecting fuel consumption. Secondly, we worked on rideability, in other words, engine response proportional to the rider's torque requirements.
