Another evil idea from HRC, they can't make a decent 2 stroke and now try to shove this "prototipe" idea in our throats. I hate Hondas and i honestly hate HRC, 250 s are ideal for the porpouse, HRC sucks.

600cc four-cylinder four-strokes to replace 250cc two-strokes from 2011? How will FGSport react?

thats the problem with 'em, when something goes more often then not it's a big/expensive part! Rebuilds are more frequent too, with a 4t you just top it up with oil and send it out again.

I'd like to see nimble 450-550cc twins instead of "just another" 600 class.

Exactly 2t.
I started racing 100cc karts & as a kid it seemed like for every hour we spent on the track we were spending 2 in the workshop. Once I got onto bikes it was slightly better but not much ... at a stage I was spending more time with my 125 MX motor than my GF.

Now I have a 125 rotary 4-stroke kart, a few 4-stroke offroad bikes & I spend most of my time actually riding / driving them rather than fixing them.

From my experience of two and four-stroke motocross machines, even if a two stroke seizes its only a few hundred pounds to rebuild. If a four stroke goes wrong (valves frequently seem to) you're talking thousands. Even a four stroke piston is much more expensive. Maybe it's different for road racing?

I would like, for the replacement of the 250cc two stroke class, 500cc four stroke twins, and for added interest the option of a 750cc single cylinder four stroke thumper.
For the 125cc two stroke, I would like twin cylinder four stroke machines at 250cc, with the option of a 450cc single four stroke thumper.
People may laugh about the thumpers, but in this day and age of fuel costs and shortages, it might be a good road to explore, also they would have an effective weight advantage....not to mention a few other advantages such as maintenance costs etc.
Also, it is about time the industry moved away from 2/4 stroke and looked at rotary and diesel, liquid gas and compressed natural gas

Why the hell are they so concerned with changing things anyway!? I'm looking at a full competetive grid on the TV right now: and a series which consistantly produces fantastic riders who know how to race.

They should be looking to get a few more manufacurers in MotoGP before messing with the feeder series'.

Rant over. Enjoy the race.

Cheaper, jokes aside ... u could well be! :-)

Ricky, I think the plan is just to have a single support class & keep the Red Bull Rookies as a sideshow. It would be nice to see a supermono, but the different capacities for different config engines is a recipe for finger pointing & 'questionable' rules ... just look at superbikes at the moment.

This is true Dice, and I do believe it is time for the questionable Spaniard Mr E to exit stage: the thought of mighty thumpers, and all that would ensure, is extremely appetizing to an old man like myself :-)

kind regards,

ricky

I think the best idea is a full on prototype 400cc class. The 2 strokes have had their day and just think what a v4 400 at 20,000 rpm would sound like.

As for costs, 4 strokes are way more expensive to run than 2 strokes. Do you honestly think the teams in MOTOGP just top up with oil and turn up the following week???

Actually, 2 stroke 125s & 250s are still very commercially relevant. What do you think most youngers learn on?
Intrinsically, 2 strokes are true racing machine - they will always develop more power capacity for capacity than four strokes.
And I'm sick of the con-of-the-century environmentalist lobby.
Let's just offset the carbon - bury an environmentalist every month and there you go. Make sure they are at least 6 feet under so the carbon can't escape.
