The comments saying Casey is a one hit wonder because he hasn't won in the lesser categories are simply foolish.
As are the TC comments - ignorant at best.

Casey was always right with Pedrosa - who always had the best bike in the field.
Stoner did exceptionally well considering he never had a competitive bike until 2007.
Remember he put the LCR on pole in his second race, and very nearly won his third race.

Rossi is arguably the greatest rider ever and Stoner - to this point - is the only rider that can take the fight to him.
Last year it was Rossi keeping up with an inferior bike and this year Casey is doing just that.
Anyone who states Rossi is past it or Stoner never had it is a tool.

Dray,

I'm a fan of all the riders and I disagree that Stoner is a one hit wonder. He has a much better resume for his short history in MotoGP than Hayden. Also, remember it's still only his third year in GP and he is only 22. To win ten races in a season is not something to be sniffed at.

...and it is not something to make him stand next to Rossi. An please tell me about his record this year, especially when he warned everyone last year how he was going to be better. What you all don't seem to understand is that all Rossi wanted was a competitive bike, not better than Stoner, just competitive and he knew he could beat him soundly. That my friend is exactly what he is doing today. The person complaining now is the person who supposedly have the best package. Also his ten wins came about because most of the manufacturers got caught with the new bikes and tyre rules. Speak to me about this year and as I quote Stoner," Stop Whinging". This year's WC will make him a 1 hit wonder.

of course he cannot yet be compared to the best rider of his generation, it's too early, Stoner may not win another championship who knows? My point is that he's young, talented and has potential. As is Lorenzo, Dovi etc., I just don't think Stoner should be dismissed just yet , and I realise this is all a backlash over the Stoner/Rossi slagfest that is perpetually being fought on this forum, but to predict that in the next 10 years or so (post Rossi) "he'll never win another" is IMO foolish.
Hayden on the other hand, 3 race wins in 5 years does not a legend make.

I never said that Hayden could become a legend, could'nt care less. A legend in the making is Dani Pedrosa. He was WC in 125cc in 2003, WC in 250cc in 2004 and 2005. In 2006 he was Rookie of the year in 990cc with 5th, in 2007 he came 2nd.

Stoner is hardly what makes a legend as his stats from 2003 is 8th in 125cc, 5th in 125cc in 2004, 2nd in 250cc in 2005, 8th in 990cc in 2006 and WC in 2007.

With the likes of Lorenzo, Dovi, de Angelis and the new ones to come like Bautista , Simoncelli. I cannot see Stoner pulling off those kind of wins year after year.

Let me re-iterate Stoner does not have a winning resume, just his one hit. Also he may team up with Nicky on a Duc next year.

look at stoney's comment, it is obvious that he just can ride the motoGP bike if there is an electronic device helping him out..otherwise, perhaps he doesn't even know how to turn the bike...

this is funny but true...

so..from now on..all of you stoney's fan..wake up and face the reality that stoney ain't as good as mike doohan or vale...

Note!

Who has won WC in Cecchinello's team? ...to say nothing of KTM! 2007 was Stoner's first year in acceptable team. :-o

If Ducati can improve even just a little others wet themselves like last year 2007! :-o

Funny :D

electronic device is legal in motogp, so using it is no problem....

I am flattered that an imposter is so smitten with me that he/she has chosen to take my name and post all the preceding comments. Imposter your ignorance, crudity, lack of finesse and poor grammar gives the you away. Indeed you are illiterate and undeserving of the Cowan name...

Canepa is definitely one to watch, I was very impressed with him in superstock last year.
He could be a good shout for the Xerox team next year? Or have they learnt their lesson with trying to groom Lanzi?
