The comments saying Casey is a one hit wonder because he hasn't won in the lesser categories are simply foolish.
As are the TC comments - ignorant at best.

Casey was always right with Pedrosa - who always had the best bike in the field.
Stoner did exceptionally well considering he never had a competitive bike until 2007.
Remember he put the LCR on pole in his second race, and very nearly won his third race.

Rossi is arguably the greatest rider ever and Stoner - to this point - is the only rider that can take the fight to him.
Last year it was Rossi keeping up with an inferior bike and this year Casey is doing just that.
Anyone who states Rossi is past it or Stoner never had it is a tool.

When he's asked about his race, he tells them how his race was. And he always congratulates riders on the track, parc fermé, and podium. Cos you don't hear it, it doesn't happen right?

Scraping the bottom of the barrel arent we?

John--give me a sec whilst I put the worlds smallest violin away.....
Stoner should not even be discussed in the same breath as Rossi it's laughable, CS is a good racer but Rossi-esque don't make me laugh....I vote all the Rossi fans put casey back where he belongs, alongside KRJR, Hayden, Creville etc., until he proves(that doesn't include talking about!!) otherwise. The CS fans can dream on...Most people have a problem(hate's a bit strong)with Stoner because most of his fans immediately tried to make comparisons not just with Rossi but Doohan also, even though they could see as well as the rest of us that he had a huge performance advantage last year, this year is the real test.

why do all the threads on here come down to a "rossi is better than stoner" argument and get very personal? i'll admit to being a rossi fan, but if the the gp7 was 5% better than the M1, it takes a great rider to find that exta 5%. anybody who can win in the motogp class (regardless of the conditions) is truly amazing rider, i think we tend to forget that. to win the championship takes, a great team, great tyres and a great bike, take anyone out of the equation and it just wont happen, so lets give credit where it is due. we are all bike fans and united in being fans of an often overlooked sport, so lets not post each othe anthrax parcels and eat each others children, cheers

> and it is not something to make him stand next to Rossi.

Yep, am against such comparisons :?

> No serious MotoGP fan could fail to give Casey credit for his
> acheivemnts fo far.!!!

How do you measure that seriousness? Credit must be given, but only to the deserved. Stoner over stepped his new found limelight, during that period he launched many verbal attacks on Rossi. Earned a title Moaner! Bottom line: respect must be given :?

> Stoner must learn to do this if he is to gain support outside
> Australia.

Yep, that's what I meant to be precise

> if Sete of Max had won a title over him, would have he reacted
> in the same way?

Yess! Awaiting for such new rivalries :)

Re the comments about the carbon frame design, it definitely won't be like the tubular frame or much like a beam frame - there wouldn't be much point in using carbon if they did. Expect a minimalist structure like a glorified headstock with everthing bolted to it & maybesome interesting shapes for internal airflow etc.
Changing thesubject, what's the odds on Gibernau replacing Melandri? From whatI recall he was the only other rider to have gone well on the 800 duke

Casey Stoner's immaturity shouldn't be held against him. Yes he can be an indignant little twerp at times and even I occasionally look away, *but* he is an Aussie and could, should follow in the footsteps of Doohan. What more do you need?
Italians are a buch of vain, preening egotists generally, so Rossi's behavior shouldn't be encouraged.
Stick to racing. If I want a showman I'll go to a circus!

In an ideal world The Odds should be high - Gibernau's too good not to be racing GP - I think he is missed and would help Ducati's efforts far more than MM seems to be able to do!

Gibernau hasn't raced the 800. His last racing year was 2006.

My view on this matter is that
1. He seemed to me too much of a Honda man, something like a better Melandri, he didn't impress me on the 990 Ducati.
2. At the start of the 2009 season he will have 2 years away from racing, I doubt he will be as sharp as he was, it's going to take a few races until he finds his form, if he finds it.
3. He really was flying on that Honda, I wonder what Suppo does to lure riders away from Gresini. The funny thing is that there seems to be a "Gresini curse" to whomever leaves him for Suppo. Look at Gibranu, look at Melandri...
