Marc(not that Marc) the Honda was designed around Jockey Boy. Nicky (being an average sized adult)has stated more than once he's simply not comfortable on it. I hope for his sake he gets an opportunity to ride for a manufacturer willing to design a bike for a former World Champion and not his halfwit gnome teammate who almost cost him that championship.
Until the governing body imposes a minimum weight for bike and rider it's no wonder Pedrosa is winning.

MOTOGP » Hayden gets pneumatic for Donington!

HRC had said it was unlikely to be ready in time, but Nicky Hayden will make his pneumatic-valve grand prix debut at Donington Park.

One problem though...it's still in the DP212V POCKET BIKE.

It's not that the engine JUST has 1000 extra revs: there are other benefits. Of course fuel consumption is highest on the list. Since the PV engine is more efficient, this means that Hayden can dial back the TC significantly without it affecting the fuel consumption over race distance. Another advantage is how that power is delivered. While it's 1000 revs up top, the bike is said to be strong out of corners too, although power delivery is rather unpredictable and can come on all of a sudden (sounds like a 500). But the main difference for Hayden is that the bike as a whole HANDLES better. He has better front end feel on this bike. So, there's tons of benefits.

Interesting stuff..I hope it works although I don't expect Hayden to do all that well the first time out. But who knows, that's what makes MotoGP so great (and F1 so dull).

Honda have certainly designed some duds in the past and have not been all that good since Rossi left: although Hayden's year in 06 was good enough. I've read that Honda policy is to only keep an engineering team together for a short time. Is that the case with this bike? Have all the design engineers when Rossi was at Honda been reassigned?

What will be the Hayden fanboys excuse this time when Pedrosa beats him using the normal valve engine? Lets see, the Chassis is only designed for Pedrosa, the pneumatic engine has electrical issues because Pedrosa looked at, blah, blah, blah. Another poor result by NH will only show HRC that he's not worthy of a Honda Factory ride. It's time for the fanboys to continue cranking up the conspiracy machine. What a joke.

Tommo - If Nicky does well, which I suspect he will... Honda won't take the bike from him and give it to Dani. It doesn't work that way. Besides, why would Honda throw a monkey wrench in Dani's progress? He's already set up quite well on his current machine. It would screw everything up to put him on something new. Nicky has nothing to lose, and much to gain for developing this engine sooner rather than later. GO NICKY!!!

Yeah all I can say is good luck nicky. I'd like to see him turn this thing around.

Though I never looked into it myself was it an omission on eurosports behalf that the Top Speed table shown after Okada's pneumatic race debut did not feature Taddy at all? ie the pneumatic wasn't that fast comparatively even with a straight like that.

as much as ive grown to like nicky and the way he goes about his business, i feel the lad has had too many bad results now, we can continue to make excuses for him (even if the are justified) but hes been blown away by dani and that makes him look bad. lets hope he can click with another bike next year, cos i like his style and championship winning riders dont suddenly become bad riders
regarding the new engine, its not all about power. an extra bonus is the better fuel consumption, means more revs, means the ability to hold a gear longer with out changing up mid corner/short shifting. could be handy at places like from the old hairpin and under the bridge. or so ive been led to believe
