...no points or prizes for being fastest there. I'm sure the rest of the grid will be on the pace and know the circuit pretty damn well come qualifying. An extra couple of hours on a bike he still very new too will put Spies on a even playing field come Sunday at the very best. He is still lacking the hundreds of miles and months of testing new riders and GP regulars get.

Seems thats spies, through no fault of his own, is getting a bad reputation from the wonderful and oh so friendly MotoGP fans.

He is not breaking any rules taking part in this test. Any other ride would do the same as him given the same chance. And because he is AMA that means he is not good enough for MotoGP? He is on track for his 3rd championship in the row, if that isnt enough ti be given a chance in MotoGP what is? From his Donnington performance it seems he very much as what it takes. But someone has to give him a go to know for sure.

As for getting an advantage. That will be in the first session, maybe first day only, and whats the big deal there...

"Surprised that a test rider is facter than Ben Spies....Canepa being on the faster bike but Spies know the circuit... "

No he wont. I'm 99% sure AMA do not go to this circuit and never have.

"anyway moto gp shopuldnt be racing in a track with a wall, that s bs righ there"

Why the hell not? The Indy track has nothing on Daytona which opens the AMA season. Thats the problem with MotoGP, bunch of pussies.

"If this 'no regular riders' thing is a rule, then seems to me Spies should, as a scheduled rider"

Read the article Oscar:
"which is only available to riders not competing in the FULL world championship season"

Nicky won agter a lot of years in the best team, when HOnda did have the best bike.
Sure he s a worthy chamo but it s a fact hat given that now Yamaha has a bike at least on par with the Honda, , Nicky doesnt stand a chance. And that s withouty considering Pedrosa on the same bike as him , and Stoner on the Duke.

I agree with you Oscar, he can set up the bike nicely for the race,
it is probably a scheme to try and have an American rider do well at Indianapolis
so he can pull crowds and promote MotoGP in the States.
He'll have it tough anyway as the rest of the field is used to the bikes so they might struggle a bit in the first practice sessions but I'm sure the top riders will overtake him left and right come raceday.
Spies missed a chance of getting some valuable tracktime at Assen :p

Yeah? And how long did it take him to become competitive? A couple of years.

Regardless, instead of being offended, read what I said. Particularly the part where I said "in general": as in there are exceptions.

And in general, AMA SBK riders are not at MotoGP levels and are not competitive.
