"usually there's not too much going on in a straight line". Well, say this to Katoh, or Nakano (Mugello) or Barbera (attacked by Simoncelli). Sometimes strange things happens at high speed, and better not to have concrete walls near track then...

I can't see Rossi et al. being too happy about racing 1 metre away from a concrete wall at 200kph or more :-o

The straight will be OK with the wall..., But...Look at picture 8, look back to the last corner coming onto the straight...,
No run off at all, just a concrete wall!...
The last corner is where many riders are battleing on the last lap!..
Especially 125, 250, & midpack GP!
