A fair assumption of one of the best tactical races i have seen in a long, long time, both Stoner and rossi used their strengths to try to win the race.

I just wish Stoner would accept the fact, that he was beaten by a better rider/tactic today, pity we have to wait until the 17th August, i hope it will be as thrilling as todays race.

Being a GP fan for longer than i care to mention, the sport needs atleast two riders who will hang it out there for the ultimate prize, i''ve seen the Spencer / Roberts, Gardner, Doohan, Rainey, Schwantz, Lawson battles produce some of the best racing i have ever seen, let''s hope this cycle is beginning again.

"Gibernau incident a couple of years back"

This really pees me off - Rossi did a block move but Gibernau being the **** he is turned in normally anyway, knowing full well that Rossi was already there. If he'd sat up a bit and let Rossi through whilst keeping the best line he could he would have won the race. Instead he bounced off Rossi and went off the track. Muppet.

Stoner really showed himself up today, right in front of the cameras. He looked on the verge of losing control and punching Rossi in parc ferme. Incredible. Zero respect for the guy. Every time Stoner races well and wins Rossi says how great Stoner is riding yet as soon as Rossi gets his bike sorted and rides a great race...

The true facts are Stoner got a riding lesson today. Stoner couldn't block pass Rossi because he's just not as good on the brakes, I have to say that considering his 3/4 of a second advantage all weekend I don't know what all the fuss about Stoner is . His bike is a lot faster and he's only overtaken on the straights in a proper race to day he wasn't much cop to be fair, on equal kit DP and and Rossi would have for breakfast week in week out. For me the Stoner myth has gone, he's just got an uber fast bike that mean he can use maximum tc to get him round the corners, he was full throttle at almost full learn on exit and for me that's his entire repetoire....

MADMC would you like some sauce with that chip on your shoulder?

Its got nothing to do with Casey being an Aussie, Bayliss is too and the man is a God, the brit fans love him. Its about Casey crying like a little girl cos he got well and truly beaten up by the better man, end of.

Casey needs to learn from this lesson, toughen up and come back fighting. Valentino just reaffirmed the fact that he is a GOD on two wheels! Che Spettacolo!!

This is for CA

I have lived in Italy for 12 years and I know the Rossi family. You have excellent knowledge. As a matter of fact Rossi started racing go karts as a kid and gradually rose to bikes because it was alot of fun. Graziano actually encouraged him without his mom's approval. Vale's first bike ride was actually his friends bike at Misano and was taken. The roads in Tuscany are twisted and curvy. I would say that's why he brakes so well.

Daz, I have to disagree on the Gibernau maneuver. When Rossi was in his field of view they were almost at the apex of the corner, it would be impossible for Gibernau to just let him through and complete the corner, like the last corner in Sachsenring in 2003 (or -04 can't accurately recall). Still to this day I think that maneuver was a bit unfair on Rossi's part because he gave absolutely no option to Gibernau other than to go to the gravel. That didn't happen yesterday however. Hard maneuvers, yes, but no "forcing out". The sole moment Stoner touched the gravel was clearly his own mistake.

Being a Stoner fan,it was good to see a great race.
Rossi showed Casey how its done in the Big league, and Rossi's Experience shone through.
Stoner is young and still learning the craft and hopefully there was a lesson learned today, and Casey will be wiser for the experience in the near future.

R46..Thanks for your reply. VR's brilliant method of passing an equal and costing them time looked very Kart like.
