A fair assumption of one of the best tactical races i have seen in a long, long time, both Stoner and rossi used their strengths to try to win the race.

I just wish Stoner would accept the fact, that he was beaten by a better rider/tactic today, pity we have to wait until the 17th August, i hope it will be as thrilling as todays race.

Being a GP fan for longer than i care to mention, the sport needs atleast two riders who will hang it out there for the ultimate prize, i''ve seen the Spencer / Roberts, Gardner, Doohan, Rainey, Schwantz, Lawson battles produce some of the best racing i have ever seen, let''s hope this cycle is beginning again.

jodas,

Stoner must be on 4 - 5 million a year and he is worried about being fined?

Has he got his dads permission to out riding motorbikes?

That was as exciting as any race I have seen in 20 years of MotoGP.Adrenalin was pumping and my heart was racing just watching so imagine how the riders felt. Casey made a few unfortunate comments immediately after the race and I suspect he probably regrets them now, but at least he did not resort to fisticuffs as has happened many times in all forms of motorsport. I remember one V8 race where one driver tried to run over another who he thought had pushed his car off the track.
If the rest of the season is as good as this I may have to install a defibrilator at home

It is so sad that these young up and coming racers (Stoner, Pedrosa) are pitiful when it really comes down to it. Getting paid millions is just that, to hang it all out well maybe you need to go back and race on a more friendlier atmosphere LiL boy this is the pinnacle of racing if you and your team manager don't like it go HOME this is a big boy sport and if and of you racers out there are sacred of contact, close calls etc... chose another sport this ain't the school play millions of dollars are at stake here so grow up dude or get out cause you can't spook Rossi he's been there done that and got the cookie :D

A true champion takes victories and losses with dignity and I believe Stoner failed to do this. Yes, it was a hard battle, but what did he expect? I think he is just used to breaking off from the rest by using his superior speed, but this time he was not able to do so and it frustrated him. Valentino was the better man on the day, accept it! And he well deserved the victory. The Doctor has shown us how good he is, winning a battle like this, even though his M1 is not as fast as Stoner''s. Casey''s attitude is disgusting (refusing to shake Vale''s hand). He should have a look at the way Vale handled 2 horrible years, all the bad luck and heartache. But then again, he is a true champion!

Ray,read what I wrote, since 1992 GP racing hasn't had as many good riders competeing for a championship as they do now with young blokes giving all to the veterans as Doohan Schwantz and Rainey gave it to Gardner Lawson,Mamola and Spencer. From 1994 till 2006 Doohan and Rossi put it over everyone just ask Criville Biaggi Gibernau and Co. Now we have young blokes that beleive in themselves and go for it and next year is going to be even better with Lorenzo ans Co. one year wiser,This year could be Rossi's last real chance to beat Doohans record and stand alone at the top of modern GPs. We'll wait and see.

Yes nobody should complain about Rossi but he can complain about others. Remember what he has told after Turkey race in 2007 about Tony Elias. He will do any thing to win the race and this is not the first time. what he did in Jerez 4 years back (pusing sete into grawal for win). Yes Rossi You are great Champion!!!

At least one thing will be answered at Brno after the break, is Stoner mentally strong enough to take it on the chin and show up at brno?, or will he capitulate like Biaggi and Gibernau?

Stoner's hint that Rossi "brake-checked" him at the hairpin is nonsense. Some people accused Wayne Gardner of doing exactly that to Lawson at Laguna in 1988. When asked about it Eddie said it was ridiculous because Gardner would have certainly been pushed off the track while he (Eddie) would still have had a very good chance of staying on.

Burgess's commented that if Stoner had been racing during that era he would have sen this sort of passing week-in and week-out.

Stoner lost today fair and square. Now suck it up and move on.

We'll see what Yamaha brings to the game at Brno. If they improve the machine then I think Stoner just may be in for another Rossi b*tch-slapping.

Casey is exceptionally quick but, like everyone else on the track, he falls short of the racecraft of Valentino. I've never seen anyone else like him. Perfect strategy and perfect execution. Incredible.

Stoner shows why he'll never be a fans favorite, he can't take a loss with dignity he has to make some excuse or blame someone else. Vale loses with dignity and wins with dignity that's why he has the biggest fan base in GP.

Stoner, to be a champion you have to earn it and fight for it. Don't expect your opposition to roll over and let you blast of into the distance on your rocket bike. and when you are beaten take it like a man and don't cry like a little b@tch.

I wanted the battle to go to the end because it was such an enjoyable race and I didn't care who wins because the racing was so good. but Stoner comments after have spoiled it for me. I don't like bad losers.
