A fair assumption of one of the best tactical races i have seen in a long, long time, both Stoner and rossi used their strengths to try to win the race.

I just wish Stoner would accept the fact, that he was beaten by a better rider/tactic today, pity we have to wait until the 17th August, i hope it will be as thrilling as todays race.

Being a GP fan for longer than i care to mention, the sport needs atleast two riders who will hang it out there for the ultimate prize, i''ve seen the Spencer / Roberts, Gardner, Doohan, Rainey, Schwantz, Lawson battles produce some of the best racing i have ever seen, let''s hope this cycle is beginning again.

it could be said that Rossi had little to lose with some of his passes as long as he bought Stoner down in the process as he couldn't lose points to Pedrosa so he had the advantage in that respect. Anyone remember Loris winning the 250cc championship by bringing his main opponebt down, lol.

As soon as I saw the Rossi's block going down the start finish straight forcing Stoner to sit up I knew it was Rossi's race. It was a a great race but as long as Rossi was close enough to stuff his bike up the inside the race was his, no mean feat mind you.

Great race but with a fit Pedrosa in the race Rossi couldn't have riden that way.

He used the advantage he had that is racing.

he was outsmarted by rossi. i think the corkscrew was stupid but hard and fair, but u just do it in return and make it work. cut the guy no slack, u have given him far to much room in the past.

the right man won no question. Sick of hearing that yam is bad, better on the brakes better really through the turn. its only when the duc was up right on the tyre that it had any edge.

Rossi rode the wheels of it tho, but its a great machine.

it was a classic battle, i was hoping it was gonna be a chili vs foggy but sadly didnt happen. but i think those 2 were something else on that day as well.

hope for more fun at bruno, that should really suit yamaha with its flowing turns.

I was truly dissapointed by Stoner's comments and childish behaviour refusing a handshake. And this is a married man with a seven figure income?

I really liked and rooted for him until today. Now he's in the same category as the little Troll on the Repsol. He may be destined to be a one hit wonder if he thinks racing is strictly a contest of horsepower. If it were, as it pretty much was last year, they should just have a dyno shoot out of the riderless machines. It would be a lot like watching AMA Superbike (Spies, Mladin, Mladin, Spies, Spies, Spies, Mladin... yawn!).

I want Stoner to win the Championship and I do not like Rossi.....but hats off to him for stuffing Casey big time.
When I was racing I would not think twice of block passing another rider and making a hard pass even if it meant the other rider hitting the deck.
I have been t-boned, rammed and taken out over the years but if you cant take it then you should take up knitting.
Head games are part and parcel of every sport and Casey SHOULD learn from this race.
I cant see him winning the Championship after Laguna.
I think he just underestimated Rossi and dug himself a big hole he wont get out of.
The only way left is to ACCIDENTALLY take out Rossi and hope he picks up an injury :p

yep mike. this race restored my faith that race-craft can still beat horsepower.

Stoner thinks he should win because he has the rocket bike and that's how he won last year. but now people catch up with him he don't like it and starts his childish behavior. he don't deserve to be called a champion he's a spoil little boy. I bet he will feel ashamed when he watch that interview and how much of a ****** he look crying, "No I won't shake your hand" to Rossi.

Casey and his wife must fight for the Tampax each month!!!

As Aussies are so fond of describing the Brits as "whinging Poms", I wonder how they feel about Stoner being a "whinging aussie"?. Yes Casey, it was a tough race but Rossi isn't there to make up the numbers while your clearly faster bike and undoubted talent sweeps all before you. Get over it and get on with the job. Just remember it wasn't so long ago that your nickname was Casey Graveller and with very good reason.

Both guys were pretty lucky to finish today.Tactics from VR considering he already had a 20 pnt lead and potential improvements to the bike over the break were very surprising. His efforts were those of a desperate man and his manner at the post race interviews indicated he knew it.He needs to keep his cool as I can't see CS buckling under the pressure.Regarding CS behaviour,I thought he conveyed his thoughts calmly and precisely and had fair reason to be fired up. The outcome of riding in this manner is more luck, less to do with class. I think Rossi is well aware of how ragged and lucky he was today,I hope he can win with a bit more class next time. It's really his c'ship to lose now.

Through out Stoner's career, he's worn his heart on his sleeve and acted his age for better or for worse (how many times did we see him in tears in the 125 and 250s). When it comes to this race, he got man-handled. But man-handled fair and square. If he is going to call on all his "exerience" he should recall some of that dirt-track racing they all go on about. I've always been under the impression that they race pretty close in that variety of the sport. Maybe a speedway or dirt-track racer can correct me.

I cant understand Stoner his reaction was a total wimpout this is racing goddammit and even if he thought it you should NEVER show Rossi that you are rattled, that was a big mistake..Rossi rode very clever and very well I haven't seen a performance like that from him for ages.
