I know he's an arrogant little sod, but I can't help liking Lorenzo. I hope he heals quickly and breaks this spell of bad luck because the kid can ride a motorcycle. Sometimes.

Duke 21, I agree all of Lorenzo's falls will play against his state of mind but during the winter break he's sure to reset himself, analyze the reasons of his falls and learn the peculiarities of the 800s. I believe he will be competitive right from the start of the 2009 season, provided of course he stops falling for the rest of this season.

Young and brash, he might end up being ok but it
is not looking so good for JL. It seems he
is worried about C.Stoner too which is not
a good sign for his future.
The other J, James Toseland, he might be doing better than
JL next year I suspect, maybe JL if he survives will
be a force around 2010

kind regards

So, two broken feet (Lorenzo/Pedrosa), one thumb (De Angelis) and a finger (Pedrosa)....
Before that two broken ankles (Lorenzo), a broken wrist (Capirossi), several fractures in the legs (Hopkins)... Pedrosa preseason's crash. Many crashes with milder injuries (f/e Pedrosa testing at Catalunia)...

What is happening? Is the safety gear not good enough. Or are the bikes more violent. Can't remember a season with so many injuries as a result of non-contact crashes...

Sasha,
you forget broken vertebrae (West and Hopper), I fully agree with you that this all ads up to a pretty grim picture.
It would be nice if Crash could give some statistics on the crashes in the 800 and 990 era, just to see if there is any difference.

My guess is that the margins for error are now slimmer, the riders 'feel' the bike less and instead have to have blind faith in the 'fly by wire' throttle. Besides that you have some eager young beavers around who want to prove themselves
and it gets more important to have a good start so riders must risk more on cold tyres.

Gutted for Lorenzo, hope he heals quick. He needs to get back in the running for rookie of the year, that's the only thing he can win now. That was a spectacular crash, landed on his head as well, hope he doesn't have concussion again.

Sasha... Deangelis also has a broken index finger i believe... wasnt he the one who clipped his hand on the little bollards sticking up around the circuit?!

I think its down the fact that they are pushing so hard and relying on playstation technology to allow them to do it instead of their talent!

Not to mention Casey Stoners massive off at end of season testing
last year, which re-arranged a shoulder that is now higher than the other,
very bad crash....

kind regards

JL is simply trying too hard and not using his brain. He's world champion for gods sale so he need to stay on and build confidence. Or was it the tyres that let him down? It seems that Michelin are losing the battle with Bridgestone again. Bridgestone just seem to be able to raise the bar again when Michelin get close!
