I do hope the MotoGP does stay at donington park!
Silverstone is suited to cars and not bikes (thats from a spectators point of view).

Fan your missing the point, the motorways are straight lines of boredom and no challenge. I ride every day and never venture onto a motorway unless I cannot avoid it, I go out my way on the way home from work to take the twisty route, why have something that leans to go round corners and then waste it on staying bolt upright in a straight line. Defeats the reason for owning a bike being on a motorway

Axis, here are three to think about (separate posts):

Assen - weekend tickets are 70 Euros. Multiple campgrounds with two kinds of camping: a battlefield (all weekend party, no sleep), or a graveyard (enforced quiet so you can sleep, go elsewhere to party, good bathrooms with hot showers, cafeteria.) Downtown Assen is a 15 to 20 minute walk, and is a great festival all weekend. Reasonable restaurant prices and tons of outdoor bars and cafes.

Sachsenring - weekend tickets 60 Euros, 10,000 person temporary camping village right next to the track with several temporary restaurants, not enough bathrooms and showers, entire weekend is a loud stupid drunk party with some pretty obnoxious Germans doing some pretty weird things. They damned near burned my tent down with fireworks. Or you can camp 2.5 kilometers away at a commercial campground with all of the amenities and a cheap shuttle bus to the track.

Brno - Weekend tickets are 70 Euros, many campgrounds near the track. Free shuttlebus UP the hill to the track, 30 minute walk downhill back to the campgrounds. Some temporary campgrounds, some all-year privately owned with good facilities. 15 minute taxi ride into Brno with lots of good restaurants and bars. Brno is a good spectator track with a lot of elevation changes. Do not buy a grandstand seat, get a multiple area ticket and you can pretty much pick and choose anywhere on the track to sit (except in the grandstands.)

I was at Donnington for the race. We camped until the Monday morning because of the queue trying to get out after the race. Donnington staff were saying some crap about a crash on the M1 was the reason for the delays. I spoke to a policeman who got on his radio, and lo and behold, no accident on the M1.
It was due to yet another screw up by Donny.
I've been to Donnington many times for the british and world superbikes. It was my first MotoGP. Next year I think I'll stick to watching on the TV.
All I can say is..... ROBBING *******S...

I'm a bit gutted by this announcement as i always goto Brands for WSB and this will make it the weekend before Brands. It is expensive, especially when you camp from Thursday - Monday so it looks like i will be needing to save a couple of extra quid. Looks like (unless WSB change the Brand date) i'll be taking a fortnight off as it doesn't seem worth going back for a day or two just to take another 5 or 6 off

p.s. The going by motorway thing...i use em cos they get me there quickly, would love to have the time to go via the scenic route but sometimes (make that most of the time) i just don't have the time available to me.
Not long before Brands now though and i'm rather excited! Go #41!

p.s Axis,

From what i have heard Brno is the best value across the board, whether it be tickets or the food and beer you buy..not to mention Czech beer is a great tipple :) Want to go next year but doubtful given my previous comment

Donnington is an awesome track but the organisation is crap!
I think I'm gonna skip Donnington & just do a European round instead. I went to Mugello last year & it was amazing, even tho it did piss it down half the time. I've heard that Valencia is a good one to do, apparently they get everyone out in an hour & half.
Has anyone been?
