Good god, a LOT of the people on this forum seem to be SEVERELY lacking in the reading comprehension skills department. A) They said QUALIFYING at Qatar. B) He said it would be HARD to win the title in EITHER series. C) He said BOTH series require SPECIALISTS at said series. Meaning that one might not be good at the other, but you must LEARN how to be good at it because there are differences. D) He acknowledged that the depth of field is greater in MotoGP

I don't understand why you people bag him for his words, there's nothing wrong with them. The issue lies in your ability to read and understand them.

James Toseland believes trying to reach the top of the MotoGP World Championship isn't any harder than doing so in the World Superbike Championship.

Big fan of his: I hope these comments are born out of self-belief because if he really thinks it''s going to be as easy as his Ducati season then he''s in for a surprise...

I think you've got that one wrong JT, bin the piano and get on with it. You are a very talented racer but in Motogp very talented is only just top 10...

there is more good riders in moto GP, tho less riders overall. but the top say 5 in both are pretty similar.

go back a bit further in sbk to say 96-99 the top 5 in my view were better than the top 5 top in moto gp now. but id say now moto gp has a bit more better. but not better racing.

I dont think I read anywhere in the interview JT saying it would be easy. In fact he actually says it would be just as hard to win in Worldsbk and MOTOGP.

I think his comments are spot on. Against the relative merits of your competition it is the same whether you are in one class or the other.

As far as outright talent goes there is still one total talent in MOTOgp and that is Rossi. Stoner needs to get some more championships under his belt before he can be classed as the best I think.

Good hard racing in any class is more about having equally competative machinery/tyres than just having a half a dozen ex world champions. If the machinery/tyres provides a more level playing field then any top class rider can give a good race. Nobody out there is slow! When the balance is disproportionate you end up with deadly dull racing like last years Moto GP season.

After a spectacular second place on his MotoGP qualifying debut at Qatar, and four sixth-place finishes from his first seven starts, a turn one accident at the following British Grand Prix marked the start of a tough four-race run for Toseland.

The above comment by Crash.net is wrong. JT was 6th in Qatar. It was Jorge Lorenzo who was 2nd in Qatar. Must be an error that Crash overlooked :?

Why on earth did James switch from SBK to MotoGP?
His record in SBK did not suggest that he would be a regular on the MotoGP podium. For that to have happened he would have needed to burst into MotoGP with a factory ride. He didn't get that and I can't see how he can secure one in the future.

sorry 4 JT but the level in motogp is much higher as you could see from troy bayliss, who whas king of sbk and rode mid feeld races in the gp class. you can finish in the top 8. but to finish in top 3 you have to beat VR, DP, CS, and those 3 riders are racing in another world just like laguna. CS and VR where unstopeble in lap 2 they already had a gap of more than a sec(if i remember it right).
