I reckon his will do OK at Ducati. There was some luck involved in 2006. But he was a consistant front runner that year. He just can't rider the tiny Honda which is much more suited Pedrosas smooth style.

The Ducati is big and has some raw power, thats what Haydon prefers, it's closer to a Superbike than the Honda is and he would do well on it.

But he beat Rossi, which means instant hatred from 80% of the people that read Crash.

Good luck and get well soon Nicky - sorry to hear about the injury.

Regarding next year - is it a problem that he currently advertises Michelin and presumably gets paid a lot of money for his celebrity endorsement?

I will be interested to see how he gets on next year whether it's satellite Honda, Kawasaki or Ducati. Possibly he is not suited to the 800's and should switch to WSB - he is obviously a very talented rider and perhaps would go well on the Xerox Ducati - I think he used to race a V twin RC51 in AMA.

If the Ducati MotoGP bike has very fiddly electronics and has to be set up perfectly for each corner it might be a disaster for NH to accept the ride.

To my knowledge, Nicky has never beaten Valentino in a straight race in Moto GP.

Can anyone recall a race, where Rossi was overtaken and beaten by Nicky on a race where his bike didn't break down, or his Michelin's shred? Seriously.

Hayden got just 2 wins in his 2006 Championship year, Rossi on a failing bike got 5 wins.

Out of the 2 wins, in the USA where Nicky won, Rossi retired. So the only other place Nicky won, was Holland and Rossi came 8th.

So this is the only possible time Rossi has been beaten by Nicky who won the race.
Can anyone remember what happened in Holland, Moto GP race 2006?

Did Nicky beat Rossi, or did Rossi have a tyre failure again?

Thanks.

I believe Nicky won the German motogp race in 2005, beating Rossi home who finished 2nd. I can't remember the circumstances.

Rossi was riding injured in the 2006 Assen race. He fractured his wrist and ankle at the Ramshoek corner on the Thursday before the race.

That last thing Hayden wants is to go a balls his factory ride up and this has just played striaght into the hands of HRC, who is to say HRC gave their permission in the hope Hayden would injure himself?

HRC wins all round, i think Hayden has been a bit naive in this respect, he is fighting to keep his factory ride for next year, he should be concentrating on that alone.

sorry mate nicky didn't win germany in 05, his only win was laguna seca that year. he won there again in 06. there isn't much point claiming nicky is as good as rossi because it isn't so, rossi has over 90 wins in GP's most of which are in the big class, where nicky has only 3. im a big hayden fan but facts are facts.i hope whereever he goes tho he regains his confidence.

I cannot figure out how the Ducati is going to help Nicky out so much?
After all Marco won 5 races on a satellite Honda in 2 seasons.Nicky has won 3
races in what 5 seasons????Marco won 3 races in 2006 alone!Tell me the points aren''t a little too upside down? Not the rider''s fault.Just an opinion. And this post is merely an observation, period. Not meant to jab anyone.Over the years it seems that the Honda is as friendly? as a GP bike usually ever gets for the most part. And HRC/NASA doesn''t spend whatever they spend for a bunch of whiners to say they don''t support their riders.
If that is true?It only gets worse from there.8th in Bologna=Home.G.

@Gammaman - Stupid Melandri comparisons. That same year that Melandri was winning on the Honda. Stoner was losing. Now they have completely flip flopped. Stoner has won how many races on a Ducati and Melandri how many?? And supposedly he is the next best thing to Rossi, W T F is wrong with you people? You talk about history, have Honda ever supported Hayden? He was developing the 06 bike and parts for Pedrosa and still won on it. The last two season need to be tossed for Hayden because he has just been a test rider anyway. I hope that Honda fall below the kwak.

nic e Nicky did win in Germany in '05. Check the motogp.com archives. Rossi finished second. Fact. I made no comment as to their respective riding abilities. Rossi's good but Nicky's got much better hair. Another fact.
