i agree Rico but i dont like the idea of single tyre rule. We must remember it was bridgestone who were struggling a few years back and there were no calls for a single tyre rule then was there?? i am all in favour of banning the electronics because it should be the rider in control of the bike!

Marc P. you are, of course, aware that Dorna has already stated that in 2010 the 250 class will become the 600cc 4-stoke class. For the rest of this debate what we all really want as fans is - wait for it - safe close racing! That's what Dorna wants too, the better the spectacle, the more people will watch. BUT what a team or factory wants is their bike winning! Stoner and Ducati's dominance last year sure made them happy. No bike or platform is going to be idea at every track, in all weather or temperature conditions, thats why I watch every race - to see what will happen, duh. A champion will be crowned, tweaks will be made, and we'll see what happens next season.

layton keske, 990cc just isn't going to happen. The manufacturers won't want it. They want to develop smaller, more efficient engines with higher output. That's the way it's going with oil prices. Just as they wanted to get out of smokey, polluting two-strokes that are irrelevant to most motorcyclists and had reached their development limit. The era of 'no substitute for cubic inches' is over. I will get howled down - but I think going to 800cc was a great move: it makes the bikes more relevant to what we'll be riding in the future, whereas in Superbikes they've got their head up their **** by allowing Ducati to just go bigger, bigger, bigger ...

Limiting the speed or control of the bikes is an option, but rider error will always be there regardless of whether there is traction control etc. All of the changes suggested for the MotoGP class wouldn't have helped Roberto Locatelli and his bad facial injuries received, or Bradley when he went into the tyres at Catalunya in qualifying.
Riders will continue to suffer injuries while the track safety isn't comprehensive.

The FIM and FIA have to ensure these privately run tracks are up to scratch. Generally their standards are good but they need to continue to evolve and improve. Suzuka learned this after Kato's crash in 03, but we can't wait for another death before excluding another track.

This change is just smoke and mirrors to mask the change that Dorna really wants, closer racing. We all want closer racing so lets at least be honest about it,most of those proposals will have no affect on corner safety, the same as reducing the limit to 800cc. Some of those new proposals will indeed increase the risk factor which is not a good thing in terms of rider safety. Many arguments will arise from this, whether it be 'balls to the wall, let them get on with it,no gimmicks' or 'safety first, spectacle second' there's no quick fix to this issue, but Dorna, the manufacturers and riders and teams should just be honest about why these changes are needed, then maybe we can get a serious response

I bet. At last, Motogp is just a similarity of Formula 1. They dig their grave.

I have a sixth option: sack Ezpeleta!

He behaves like a little Ecclestone but has zero understanding of motorcycles.
Besides that he isn't even in control, the (biggest) factories are and that's the biggest fault.
All the changes that should have brought about increased safety only prove how relative safety is.
Did you see Thomas Luthi losing it on the wet 'Astro turf'?

The way things are going now HRC will ditch Michelin and that will de facto lead to a single tyre situation.

Ban Rossi and Stoner they go around the corners toooo quick for the other riders or Dorna could insist all tracks be a 120klm straight
