i agree Rico but i dont like the idea of single tyre rule. We must remember it was bridgestone who were struggling a few years back and there were no calls for a single tyre rule then was there?? i am all in favour of banning the electronics because it should be the rider in control of the bike!

It's not just the items that everybody has quite rightly pointed out, it's the amount (or lack of) bikes, the 125 & 250 classes are top heavy with numbers, the problem is that Ezpeleta should have EMPOWERED Suzuki & Kawasaki to provide more bikes to the championship, not just wildcards like they have done previously, if a small factory like Ducati can provide 4 bikes then so can they. Hopefully then some of the more well backed teams from the support championships can look to move up. I myself would love to see the 990's back but i think the manufacturers' will not exactly be falling over themselves to redevelop/re-engineer with the cost implications that carries.

Though it's the least interesting, limiting tire width is the best. Thinner tires mean less corner grip, so lower cornering speed. As a huge bonus, carrying less corner speed makes for more cornering lines. You can stop-turn-go, or try to carry your speed. More lines make for more overtaking. Although it doesn't sound as "sexy" as some other options like getting rid traction control, it's probably the best.

The problem with limiting TC is twofold. One problem is that it makes the GP bikes less advanced on that front than WSB. The other is that it may well result in more injuries. You can't implement a plan that will hurt people. So tires, by default.

Max is absolutely right but why do they want closer racing? Not for love of the sport
but for fear of losing spectators, in a couple of years Rossi will retire and then they are in big trouble.
Their bid to propel a young Spaniard to the front hasn't worked (as of yet),
a young Aussie ran away with the prize last year and now Rossi looks to beat them all again :p

I think it is quite simple: 990cc, No Traction Control, and let the Tyre Manufactures bring as much tyres as they want so that any of them can be competitive. Not the other way around by just One Tyre Manufacturer because he will be able to decide the outcome of races at will, too much power to One Company is not good for the Sport. In other words, Go back in time and admit 'Honda pushing Silly' Rules to have more Control over the outcomes was not a good idea.

Don't think "as many as you want" suits the current climate VH...recession and all.

The 990's were better imho. But part of that was down to crapper tyres, so lots of smoking (remember 2003?!) and less electronics.

The 800's were a backwards step in my mind. Why not just allow less fuel in the 990's? Cut 1 litre each year until they were down to around 18, then all the focus would be on making them fast and efficient.

Gotta say though....Saltbrush made me laugh - spot on mate. Ban Rossi and Stoner - they go round corners too fast! :D

I agree that there should be less in the way of rider aids, otherwise it will get to the stage where they just hold it wide open for 20 odd laps, also a return to 990cc. :)

Just run the races on dragstrips!
"Slowing down cornerspeed" is just a mask for what they really want. A more level playing field and a more competitive championship. They are looking at WSB and are getting worried.
I love MotoGP but its a poor relation to what 500s were like. Its slowly turning into the boredom that is F1.

250s corner waaay quicker than MotoGP bikes and I dont see anyone complaining about that.

Hey Gary, 250s coner just as fast as MotoGP but they don't arrive at the corner with the same amount of speed so it's not as dangerous.

Go back to 990s and have a decent minimum weight. The weight should slow them down in the corners. There will be some form of electronics to make the bikes ride-able. So how about a controlled ECU.

It doesn't matter what the manufacturers want because Dorna can change the rules based on the grounds of safety without consent from the OEMs.
