i agree Rico but i dont like the idea of single tyre rule. We must remember it was bridgestone who were struggling a few years back and there were no calls for a single tyre rule then was there?? i am all in favour of banning the electronics because it should be the rider in control of the bike!

Two things. The Morgue: "...in a couple of years Rossi will retire and then they are in big trouble." But MotoGP/GP500 history clearly shows one dominant rider is followed by another, from 1949 to the present, Agostini followed Hailwood, Rossi followed Doohan etc. Check this website www.motorsportsetc.com/champs/motogp.htm.

Garry Dow says "250s corner waaay quicker than MotoGP bikes..." yet statistics don't seem to bear this out. The twistiest part of the Brno track is section 2 - five corners & very short srtaight. Rossi's quickest time through this section was 35.344. Debon's quickest time was 36.269. Seems like the 800s are cornering at about the same speed as the 250s.

To me, there was nothing wrong with the 990s. They were wicked fast, hard to control, and spun up the tire like a proper premier class bike. They used to make actual passes for the lead on the track! But it will look bad for the OEMs to spend all that money to develop the 800s to just mothball them after 2 years.

"...been made an issue since riders like Stoner have challenged Valentino (who uses TC himself, no matter what anyone says)."

waz - no one ever said Rossi didn't use TC. They all use it, it's just that some rely more heavily on it than others.

At any rate, this is the PREMIER CLASS of motorcycle racing, it is supposed to be hard. Complaining about steep learning curves, etc., seems goofy to me. Why should the premier class of motorcycling be the easiest to race? It should have a steep learning curve and the bikes should be hard to master, that's why all the top riders go there. :?

The solution is quite easy to slow bikes down . . . have sleeping policemen every few hundred yards, cheap and a lot more exciting to watch. Sorted!!!

motogp needs just two changes.
1.a control tyre.
2.no electronics, let the rider be in control of the machine.
These are after all the best riders in the world. Aren''t they? c''mon just let them ride the way bikes are supposed to be,by the seat of your pants!!!

Steel brake discs.

That will increase braking distances and therefore slow the bikes down.

Do you see guys, all this **** started when they went 4 stroke...
Why make all this ******* regulations in Grand Prix ?????
It is supposed to be the grandest of racing series on 2 wheels, but the way things are going, Superbike will be more Grand Prix than GP next season.
I pray they will go 990 again but that is not very much likely...........

MotoGP's biggest problem is the huge cost of putting a bike on the track. The grids are pitifully small and the spectacle is severely diminished. Measures to make it more affordable for privateer teams to compete could include a single tyre rule and restrictions on the use of electronics (or an obligation for manufacturers to make last year's kit available to independents at an affordable price). And we need a modern day equivalent of TZ Yamahas.

I am a lifelong fan of Grand Prix motorcycle racing but Superbikes are more entertaining at the moment. These things go in cycles but Dorna is a bungling and incompetent outfit. F1 has been rubbish for 25 years, now our sport is being ruined.
