i agree Rico but i dont like the idea of single tyre rule. We must remember it was bridgestone who were struggling a few years back and there were no calls for a single tyre rule then was there?? i am all in favour of banning the electronics because it should be the rider in control of the bike!

I'm surprised by how much consensus there is related to this. IMO it is all wrong to even talk about this. MotoGP is NOT about limiting corner speed, it is about getting the absolute maximum speed out of a 2 wheeled vehicle anywhere on track including the corners.

I think the class should be open and unlimited. I'd love to see 800s vs 1000s and even 1400cc engines on the same track.

Riders are in favor of a same manufacturer tyre - however, this is because the tyres have become so important and when one manufacturer fails to do well.

Bottom line, this discussion is all wrong. I watch motoGP for the speed, limit and standardize and you've killed the beast (and the fun.)

Isn't a race bike suppose to go faster, not slower? :?
If you want safety, put more padding in riders' race suit, bigger helmet, double layer air-fence and why not, padded run-off & air-bags!
It's about speed, people... it's about going faster than the other guys! lol

First off they have to stop saying it's about safety when it's really about making the racing more competitive. Second, if it's about being more competitive then things like control tires and basic electronics package will help. Reducing cornering speed is ridiculous unless you go back to the 990 format. Also how much performance decrease will be achieved by going back to cable system instead of throttle by wire?

I agree with Freq and niva. Have 990's or unlimited ccs but tight fuel restrictions- surely this is better from a research perspective?
Why have single tyre rule? Without Bridgestone to keep them honest Michelin could only be worse. Prototype racing is supposed to be about development. Look at the state of F1 cars, their design is so f*&^%$g arbitrary- defined by the rules, not function.
Not sure about TC. Does limit McCoy style heroics but you can buy road bikes with TC nowadays, there's a danger of WSB being faster and making a laughing stock of Moto GP.
Narrower tyres- that's just silly. Why not have a one make series- CG125 only.
Anyway, Moto GP is actually pretty safe anyway.

i dont care if WSBK coul lap faster in the future because they still would use TC.

on the other hand, i will be laughing when i see the best riders in the world, racing around without tc!! bring it on! and put the bone casts ready for casey!

If it is about safety then i don't think reducing corner speeds is necessarily the answer.
The circuits need to be addressed if it is truly about the safety aspect.

If it is about closer racing then several of the suggested measures would help in the short term, but it's only a matter of time before a pecking order is restored. it's the nature of the beast that more money thrown into development will create a performance gap. Unless it is a one make series then there will always be disparity and MotoGP is prototype racing.
It's about the bikes first and foremost and not every rider finishing together. There are other classes for that.

I am of the opinion that the 990's were pretty boring. They were too slow in the corners and it seemed they were more of a drag race than a circiut race, at least compared to the 800s. There has only been two seasons of 800s whereas there were 5 seasons (correct me if im wrong, im not an ancient gp fan) of 990s to look back on. I think big fat rows of air cushions on every wall would be good to see.

We need to give the 800s time to settle out, the championship is already closer than last year. I don't mind all the electronics and I think MotoGP is representative of new technology. BUT, I think the riders should get what THEY want because the more fun they have the better off everyone is.

I really cannot see the problem. Why should corner speed be reduced? Why no tc? What's the point of a racer crashing out. It just means one competitor less. Boooring. And have you seen that mother of a highsider from Lorenzo at Laguna Seca. TC does still allow for some spectacular crashes (if that is what you want).
I'd rather have the riders competing with each other instead of fighting there machines.
I'm in favour of rules that allow for close racing but I don't see them suggested now

It'd be nice to go back to the rider controlling the throttle.... :)
