Don't you guys think it's Bridgestone that determines the amount of laps on a tire?

He was doing tire testing, which I would imagine would be at the discretion of the tire manufacturer.

Are we that insecure that we bash him for everything single thing he does? You guys are unbelievable. Replace Rossi with Stoner in this article and you guys would be creaming your shorts.

I guess it's too hard to congratulate someone and move on.

Congratulate him for a fast lap during a test? Look at Colin Edwards, so often fast on Monday but come race day he's mid-pack. I'll congratulate people for their race finishes, not their practices (or poles for that matter).

You only need to look at Rossis past history in qualifying etc, has he ever been realy dominant on that score? I don't think so.

Come the race it's a different story because what he & his team are good at is getting the bike set up just right for the race & most times he comes up with the goods, what an incredible rider Valentino is.

Title No8 is just around the corner & I for 1 will be very happy to see him crowned world champion in 2008 :p :p :p :p :p :p

I'll congratulate anyone for setting a circuit record, race or not, it's still impressive.

That's kind of my point alex (and I'm not bashing you). Not a single one of us know the reason or logic behind what tires Bridgestone had the tester ride, and for what purpose.

Is it not possible Bridgestone told him to put in five laps and pit? Is it not possible he would put in five laps to come in and make a set up change? Did every single rider put in a full race distance on a single set of tires?

The kid set an amazing lap time that no one else has. Instead of giving the kid Kudo's for doing it the band-wagoneers want to chime in and take it away from him. I could care less if Stoner, Rossi, Edwards, Elias or Nakano set the record, I would still give them the props for it.

So now we know the score, at least according to crash.net forum posters

Bridgestone tells Casey what to do

Rossi tells Bridgestone what to do

no wonder he is leading the championships

According to the motoGp article, Ducati were looking for more corner speed and less lean angle. I can only surmise but it would seem logical that that would involve gradual chassis tweaks and possibly also some re-mapping of the electronics: the usual way to get incremental advances in performance of complex equipment is keep adjusting things as they get better and then back off when they start to get worse, so a large number of short test sessions would make sense. If BS have concerns about tyre performance over race-distance (and maybe they should given Guintoli's comments about right-side going off quickly)then from Duc's pov they have to get the bike set-up stabilised first.
