Don't you guys think it's Bridgestone that determines the amount of laps on a tire?

He was doing tire testing, which I would imagine would be at the discretion of the tire manufacturer.

Are we that insecure that we bash him for everything single thing he does? You guys are unbelievable. Replace Rossi with Stoner in this article and you guys would be creaming your shorts.

I guess it's too hard to congratulate someone and move on.

all we really know that happend is that Casey made a mistake he even said that hyim self that it was his fauly but hes not to sure why happend. As miuch as some of u Ropssi fans dislike Stoner yoyu have to admit it make the racing more exhiting imagen how boring the last few races would have been woth out Stoner. Go Stoner and Go rossi hope there are many more great duels

jh - fair point, if either end suddenly developes enough power to get the line of the contact patches inside (from a centrifugal force perspective)the c/g, you're over.. but the really violent highsides seem to be when the front end tucks under and flicks the rear end right over

Oscar, the law of friction dictates that the maximum centrifugal (<--correct word??) force is given by the equation F=c*m*g where F is the centrifugal force, c the coefficient of friction and m the mass of the object. In order to make a turn at a speed v, the centrifugal force you need is F=m*v^2/R where m is the mass of the object, v its velocity and R the radius of the turn. If you combine the above equations you will see that the mass is irrelevant to the maximum speed you can make the turn: c*m*g=m*v^2/R => v=(c*g*R)^(1/2) This equation tells us that the speed you can take a turn is proportionate to the square root of the friction coefficient and the radius of the turn cont-

This is why the wider the turn, the faster we can go through it. Now, the crucial parameter that remains is the coefficient of friction which increases as the ground pressure reduces but in a non-linear fashion. In plain english this means that the friction coefficient increases the less you load your tyres. Voila...

Geez, my first of the above 2 posts got completely *****d up. Anyway, the equation that survived concerning the speed you can take a turn at v=(c*g*R)^(1/2) is correct. v is your speed, c is the coefficient of friction and R the radius of the arc of movement.

Jack, my maths is quite inadequate to make any sensible comment - other than it's great to have such good stuff in a Crash.net blog rather than the boring fanboy cr&p. But can you help us out here, because it has been my understanding that the cornering speeds achieved by e.g. F1 cars is due in large part to the downforce of the aerodynamics adding effective c/f to the tyres without adding to the weight needing to be accelerated laterally. I was under the impression that a tyre generates its best slip angle at an optimum design weight situation - too much or too little and it doesn't achieve that??

Hi guys, i know you all dislike me but im just a young guy trying to go fast, the thing is i hate battling with other riders as it makes me wee in my pants a little bit and i make mistakes.

Im sure that one day ill be as good as Rossi but stupid Ducati this year havent given me the straight line advantage i had last year and im now having to earn my wins grrrr

Fingers crossed they dont cripple the electronics next year or it'll be back to riding wallabies for me :(

Guys, the only reason Casey Stoner join MOTO GP, only collect more BMW for his wife, parents, brother and sister and other......, so if there any classification for best practice or testing get 1 (one) BMW, total BMW that he can get in one session is 3 unit BMW and the reason why ??????? because World title can't bring you to mall, beach or any other place, it just title !!!!!
