I love Schumacher , Phelps and Pedrosa and I think Casey Stoner is a good rider at this young age but he peaked his career too early and that was last year. The future looks grim. The topic tho is Valentino Rossi and I don't know about the Future but he has an Awesome History to back up his future.

But you can compare Rossi to Schumacher or phelps or Lance Armstrong but some of US comparing Casey Stoner with a legend like Valentino Rossi is a little bit improbable.

Go look at the Eurosport voting for the best riders in the history of MotoGp.

so you dont want to talk about the year 1989 when Mick Doohan started the 500 cc on a Factory Honda and want to skip straight to 1993.

And stop agreeing to your own comments and disagreeing to my comments as it makes one of us look "STUPID"

Well, I'll just say I enjoyed Rossi's comments a lot. Especially the part with the russian roulette remark :)

Well there is limited space here and 89 was Doohan's rookie year. That's like saying Lorenzo is not good because he's only won a single grand prix this year on factory machinery.

My original point was that neither Doohan nor Rainey were clearly better than the other one.

Saran, I haven't disagreed with any of your comments, and I can't agree with my own :?
Maybe you are the only person that thinks you look stupid?

Jarno Saarinen was the best anyway :)
As for the future, my money is on Dovizioso : even Rossi did not have that incredible mix of sheer speed and reliability, on dry or wet tracks. On a full HRC Honda, if he escapes the manoeuvers of the Spanish mob (Repsol-Puig-Pedrosa) he will outpace Dani fair and square and become Rossi's worst nightmare : and the Doctor's mindgames will not work on Dobi as they did on Biaggi, Gibernau or Stoner. The next two years will be amazing !

Your point based on your Nationality.

Wayne Rainey was much better Rider/Racer, better Personality and I am not an American neither am I an Italian.

Basing on your support of Casey Stoner and Mick Doohan.
Thats why you don't have to be an Italian to like Valentino Rossi. Its Yellow all over the world

Saran, I am pointing out that Doohan and Stoner are great riders because you keep trying to assert that they aren't. As an alternative, hypothetical example:

Saran Dijkjnlkasdn: 'Hailwood wasn't as good as Ago because he didn't win as many championships'

Me: 'Moot point, go watch Sesame Street'

@ By using your Calculator anybody can up with numbers. I won't force you to like Rossi.

Rossi numbers are better than even Schumacher compared to active years served in the respective sport :)

Rossi - Race Wins - 95 (69 in premier class, more to come!)
Schumacher - Race Wins - 91

Schumacher - Podium finishes - 154
Rossi - Podium finishes - 147 (even this will go!)

I think only one sportsman is above everyone - Lance Armstrong conquering his life threatening Cancer and taking 7 Tour de France wins. Simply great :)

While you people slam eachother with statistics and try to 'prove' who is or was best
I prefer to savour this magnificent victory, winning in these circumstances
on a new track, in the presence of known 'rainmasters' like Vermeulen, West and Stoner
is a sign of greatness.

Bravo Vale!! :) Bravissimo!

"I am pointing out that Doohan and Stoner are great riders"
You can't possibly argue that any rider is "great" after winning one championship. Even less so if that bike has an obvious and considerable performance advantage. Stoner may become great, but he has some more to do yet. If he doesn't win another championship will he be remembered alongside the greats for just 2007? No more so than Kenny Roberts JR. Lets see what he does from here on before we get carried away!
