Here's a way out thought guys....

Who cares about a single tyre rule?? Personally I watch MGP to see who is the BEST RIDER not who has the best tyres.

If they all start on a level playing field, all with the same tyres, nobody with an advantage over anyone else IMHO it's a good thing.

All I wish for now is a total ban on all electronic aids and a return to 990cc so we can really see who is the BEST RIDER and not who has the best tyres or best electronic package.

Am I the only one who is happy at this first step???

It will depend on whose proposal will be better (who will reduce the tyre performance more :? ) so Michelin has a good chance... The propopsal deadline is 3-Oct which means no other Tyre manufacturer will be able to compete...

Well it is how I posted some weeks ago. Now there will be 3 compounds available but tyre numbers are to be sorted. Unlimited wets. Whilst it is the official line to claim safety as the reason it is more like money both in Dorna's pocket and the teams. There will be no tyre testing as such and also the tyres will be supplied to the teams for nothing. I feel that the rider aids will remain for the time being until all teams come to terms with the new tyres. Similar to F1.

it's funny how tyres never came up until they changed the rules to stop the overnight specials maybe they should scrap that rule for 2009 and see what happens before they go down this one tyre path from where there will be no turning back and forget the 990 bring back the 500 and then we will see some good racing

I dont think a one tyre rule is a good thing but I think its better than we have at the moment with michelin constantly failing to step up to the mark. I know Bridgestone had their bad period etc etc etc but no one chose to do anything then and now they are so we cant change that! and lets be honest what is stopping the likes of Lorenzo being able to fight at the front? michelin! going back to 990s, removing tc, adding weight, limiting speed or rpm etc etc wont change that they still cant go as fast as the bridgestone guys! i think we will get better racing and the development may slow down a bit but the chosen manufacturer will still have to provide tyres that work for a variety of bike!

Most of the tyre development form 990cc (06) went straight into 800cc (07), they did not start from scratch, did they? As you suggest Bob! (Nice Try).

I dont mind this new rule, whats the problem with everyone on the same tyres? The rule may be bad for Ducati unless Bridgestone get the contract....The rule is a bit unfair to Bridgestone (if they dont get the contract) after the good work they have done the last few years and winning...I cant see Michelin getting the contract because the excuse for the new rule is for safty..Michelins where unsafe at some rounds so it cant go to them.
It may be Dunlops, pirelli, Bridgestone etc....
I wonder why they gave them so little time to apply for the contract? By next Sat???...How can smaller tyre manufactures get their entries in on time...No Chance....
I think Bridgestone have a 80% chance

Paul it should be the other way around-the bikes should be engineered to suit the tyres as there is only 3 compounds.
