Here's a way out thought guys....

Who cares about a single tyre rule?? Personally I watch MGP to see who is the BEST RIDER not who has the best tyres.

If they all start on a level playing field, all with the same tyres, nobody with an advantage over anyone else IMHO it's a good thing.

All I wish for now is a total ban on all electronic aids and a return to 990cc so we can really see who is the BEST RIDER and not who has the best tyres or best electronic package.

Am I the only one who is happy at this first step???

Not realy sure how a single tyre rule will help improve health and rider safety, which is one of their alleged reasons.
What would make me laugh is if Bridgestone don't end up as the tyre supplier. Imagine the egg on Pedrosa's face after making such a fuss this year to get Bridgestones only to find out he's completely wasted his time.
If you like the conspiracy theories about how much influence the Spanish have on what decisions are made within MotoGP you might think that Bridgestone have already been told they'll be given the contract. Otherwise Dani wont have gained an advantage after these last few races getting used to them.

Don't have a problem with the decision - the way it was going - we may have got to this situation anyway in 2009 - the rate at which Michelin were being dropped by the top teams :-o

It works in BSB, WSB and F1 so why should Motogp be any different ?

Plus lets be honest the grid size isn't exactly huge

Interesting situation, Michelin losing just another world motorsport series after having been kicked out from WSBK(2003), F1(2006), WTCC(2005?), WRC(2008) & finally from motogp? Strange thing is that when BS got into motogp 2003, nobody said that poor japanese tyres - give them a helpin' hand.
Safety reason? - ridiculous. Look at F1 - new tyres are often terribles & dangerous - Hamilton@Istambul. This is motogp, king of motorsports - but it is falling down. Look at WSBK - 1% cost of motogp, 3-4sec slower machines, increasing fans, new machines (BMW, Aprilia, perhaps KTM), exciting battles. 600cc? Making the whole motogp world goind down. 125cc=Aprilia CUP, 250cc almost the same.

I am really don't understand this people? Why ALSO Bridgestnone must to leave motogp? First they block Eurosport, now Bridgestnone must to leave motogp. Maybe they can better help Michelin to get back where they were a few years ago? Rossi will be the champion also on bicycle tyre, so that will not help...

P.S. it was so difficult to evaluate form 990 to 800.. now this.

Yes Rossi, it's such an interesting thing - single tire rule easily can be a life belt for michelin. They has been kicked out from every single series they were involved in.
Btw michelin never favoured Rossi - thinkin' about 2006, when honda was no.1, and rossi blamed michelin for not developing tyres for yamaha. Two or three times Rossi retired with bad tires - China, Laguna, etc. No comment.
To be honest Dorna leads the whole circus into a deep ravine. 18 bikes on the motogp grid vs 30 on WSBK. No comment...

good! now we got that sorted let's vote for a single bike competition too! now that will reduce costs dramatically and improves our chances to evaluate riders even better. i guess it will add to safety too, on the same grounds that having a single tire brand would do (does anyone get the reasoning behind that?)
all manufacturers can get in their proposal for providing 18 bikes for the 2010 championship, any bids?

Hmmm these new control tyres to slow bikes down! if people are worried about speed then me thinks they are in the wrong sport...

Actually, I like the rule.

watching riders win championships merely because of superior technology (e.g. Stoner in 07) devalues the rider. Watching superior riders like Rossi (07) and Pedrobot,Hayden and lorenzo this year struggle to keep pace merely because they were tethered to inferior tires is unfair and, frankly, boring. As a fan i have a hard time trying to root for a tire manufacturer. I'd prefer to be rooting for my favorite rider. It's the same reason I think they should dump traction control.

Give them all the same tires and we'll see results based more on rider skill and bike development.

One thing that has not been mentioned here, that is in other reports, is that the qualifying tyre will be gone. Qualifying will still be the same format - a single 1 hour session, but done on race tyres. This, IMO, will be a far greater test of the setup capability of the team, as the qualies tend to hide that at present. It also means that qualifying will be a much truer indication of race pace. Slowing corner speed can only mean reducing grip, and the big question for me is whether that will compress the field, or expand it. I think it will be harder for riders to find that sharp edge and should actually benefit the riders with the best feel. This will expand the field. Any thoughts??

Come on Dunlop - secure the rights and make everything mad again! Dunlop provide tyres for 125, 250 and 800? It'd be great! :D

And they'd have rubbish grip - we might see sliding again!
