I am a big Rossi fan - in fact if he wasnt riding in MotoGP I dont think I'd WOULD have gotten into it - been watching him since 2000!

Anyway 2009 for me will probably be one of the most interesting and competative MotoGP years - single tyre regs - some great riders - Nicky on a Ducati etc etc

Ones to watch IMHO - Dovisioso - he has been the most consistent rider of the new riders this year - he doesnt crash and is just a fraction away from the podium every race - single minded - quiet - happy - relaxed - he should kick **** next year.

In terms of outright adaption I think Rossi will be hard to beat - he can ride anything fast - but we will see - I think it will be very close indeed

@ Mansi er.. do you watch racing or just rossi? The 05 Jerez was one of the best race's in the motogp era..BUT ROSSI CHEATED on the final corner & ruined a great race FACT. If anyone else had pulled that move the win wud have been revoked & given to Sete but Rossi is above the sport. Rossi went for a do or die move except he tagged sete 2 stay on track (cappi & harada!) & Cappi lost that win.
It was funny in park ferme though when sete walked over to rossi, rossi was bobing himself his face was a picture. But he was tough behind sete's back on the stairs eh! Gibs should have nutted him, now that would have been cool. In 03/04/05 with no sete who would rossi have been racing.tarmac? Great!

I agree Gina, it proves that there's plenty of money in Spain to field one of their riders, look at how desperate Martinez tried to get the third Kawasaki thing together, money is not the issue there. Everything was made ready for the next golden child to be shoved in the furnace (Bautista, after him comes Marquez), there's no stopping them. In this case it didn't work as Bautista wisely stays in 250's for another year to ripen a bit. Besides, you can question yourself if the Kwacker is the right way to go for a first taste of MotoGP...

Rubbish Darkwaknight,
Gibernau was so dumb to leave the door wide open on that final corner and Rossi used his phenomenal braking powers to go through. If you watch the footage it is clear that Rossi was already completely alongside when gibbers banged into him (Yes, not the other way round). The postrace drama performance wouldn't have gotten him through the first round of Idols :p
A very cheap way of Sete to hide his own fault and play to the sentiments of the home crowd.
If you can't win on the track don't try to do it afterwards.

Sorry darkwaknight but I have watched that moment again and again and from a neutral point of view- sete got in wide left a gap and rossi nosed in front when sete turned, rossi was there fair and square how that ruined a great race is beyond me mate? you appear to be one of these unfortunate and irrational rossi/stoner haters who will never really be happy until he/they have left...then you will probably stop watching anyway cause you have **** all to moan about.

Im happy Gibbers is back it will improve the comedy element.

You are all completely wrong, there have been many races when the outcome was clean and fair.. and rossi won or sete won. jerez was not one of those moments, the facts are Rossi was BEHIND sete and he straight lined the corner, bashing sete and pushing him into the gravel. Rossi would never, ever, ever had made that corner and was going to go wide (as he did), he just used sete as a bumper to stay on track (CHEAT) get over it. And i am no rossi or stoner hater I just love racing and that is why I am happy sete is back, If it had happend the other way would all you rossi lover (layton) still see it the same way? lets hope it happens again in 09 and sete can repay the 'fair' move

Yes, Sete will bring a comedy element. I wonder if we'll get to see his classic "theatrical stare at the rear tire" routine again when he gets beaten? That was always a favourite of mine.

interesting point darkwarknight, however as i said i am neutral on this one not a fanboy whatever that is. I still think it was a fair move, hard but fair if rossi had hit him that hard then he would've fallen too. I wouldn't like to see the contact taken out of racing as it would end up like F1. hope its a dry race on sunday.

That german GP was a really good one, makes you remeber how good those two years were with gibbers and rossi scrapping away lap after lap. Rossi looked pretty downcast on the podium after some harsh truthful words from burgess !!

great years of motogp though i really miss that constant action.
