This is typical of Ducati to dump riders they feel don't produce enough right away even when they don't give them much to work with. While I love their bikes I'm not impressed with their loyalty toward riders. But it is a business so I guess in that sense they're just cold hearted business men bent on results. You can argue all the other teams are to but the other manufacturers seem more compassionate.

You can bet the new boys wont do as good a job as Sylvain, but that''s the politics of motorsport for you for you.
The likes of Edwards, Caparossi, Hopkins Elias, Vermueulen, Nakano, de Puniet and de Anglias should be kicked out all over the hill or just not delivering the goods
Hell just swap out them all for WSB riders.

Same, I wanted to see him join the Yamaha team in WSBK too after I read that he tested with them.

Doug, your post doesn't make much sense. You seem sad about Guintoli leaving (I am too, he is a good rider and has a good personality), but you say the others that haven't delivered the goods should get the boot...but Guintoli didn't deliver the goods either??? :? De Angelis was only in the series for one year so far! This was his rookie year. He didn't perform well at all, but at least give him another shot.

@ marc

remember when they canned bayliss from the motogp squad? that was rediculous, they should be lucky that guy went back to work for them and achieved what he did for them.
also remember toesland's treatment by the team when he won his championship by beating laconi, that was disgraceful.

And don't forgrt Loris. He was their golden boy, won races etc... Casey comes along, Loris has a bad year and he's out...

I always have to remind myself that with the small grids now, any rider who finishes 10th or below for the season or for a race has turned in a poor performance. I think it will be a similar situation next year, with Stoner, Hayden, Rossi, Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Dovisioso snagging 90% of the podiums.

Ducati could have pushed for him to go to sterilgarda in WSB...
Ducati expect loyalty from their customers, but they certainly don't give out a good example with their riders...
shame we lose Guintoli, he's a fast rider but most of all he's not a moaner...

Bit of a double edged sword with Ducati. On the one hand they fire riders very easily, but on the other, they have given many riders a shot on a good bike in motoGP, which is very admirable.

Where would Hayden or Stoner be if Gibernau and Capirossi still had their seats because of loyalty?

To me, Kallio and Canepa probably won't do as well as Guintoli. BUT, Guintoli has basically shown that he's not going to the top on a Ducati, at least with the other 2 there is a chance.
