Although Valentino Rossi''s accomplishment for the past 5 years speaks volumes over the others, this will simply be a popularity contest and Rossi will win by a great margin.

Marc you're the kind of Rossi muppet that was mentioned earlier. Last year Stoner was a better rider than Rossi. There wasn't much in it but sorry, he was. If never stopping trying makes you the best rider then give it to RdP, he's certainly a tryer.

Rossi is not the best rider based on history, Agostini is, but as people around at the time will tell you, he wasn't even the best rider of his era. Stats are a guide to a riders performance at best.

This year though, Rossi was the best, again there wasn't much in it, but he was. He'll deservedly win it because it's a popularity contest and he's the most popular rider.

It is unfair to compare Vale with Agostini! Agostini scored most of his wins riding a factory MV competing against privateer bikes which in many cases were up to 50 kilometers an hour slower, Agostini was a very good rider but not in the class of Vale, even Mick Doohan acknowledges Vale as the best rider ever seen in GP racing, in 2006 the bike suffered reliability problems and last year the machinery and tires were not up to the job, ask Jeremy Burgess why they changed to Bridgestone! I am not taking anything away fron Stoner but when you look at reality Vale is the best at present!

Interesting...

An opportunity to vote for a fan's favorite racer(s), yet some people here feel that popularity isn't a reasonable criteria?

I think that Aussie guy is absolutely right, Rossi will always win a fan vote like this but this year he really deserves it. And of course, Dovi, Lorenzo and Stoner are up there aswell! Shame the Tech 3 boys couldn't maintain their early form but I still think they were performing above expectations.

Some of you are really amazing. Yes Rossi puppets, Rossi deserve the Nr.1 vote this year, but "ignoring" Stoner and picking up names like Edwards? Like Conard who states that Edwards had a fantastic first part of the 2008 season... fantastic? Edwards done nothing this year, at least considering his caliber and experience. Edwards ride too safe and only try to save his leathers. I remember already at the 3-4th race he "didn't want to put a fight with Rossi/Stoner/Jorge because they are title contenders"!! What kind of attitude is that after 3 races? He will never win a MotoGP race. and he can't blame the bike or some magic settings!!

Dovi got my vote as well.

An outstanding effort for a team in it's first year in GP, running a single bike and on Michelin tyres.

Tech 3 boys who were on the best bike in the paddock and also on Michelin tyres (3 bikes) what can you say but a BIG FAIL.

Stoner stood head and shoulders above the rest of the Ducati riders with 6 race wins.

Pedrosa on the Factory Honda, designed around him, poor effort and he will never win a premier class title.

Rossi, wins the championship and deserves to be up with Dovi.

Whose ignoring Stoner?? Absolutely sick of Stoner being stuffed down my throat by the aussies that swamp this forum. Apart from the fact that the last mail gives a mention to him, this is about a personal vote for your favourite.. You cannot call people for not liking or rating him... bin the chip in the off season you'll feel better for it you know you will...

Stoner was hammered this year. He will never win another Motogp championship, and he can't blame his wrist or the tyres!! :)

All Caseys fans last year said Rossi was finished and the competition(which apparently he'd never had before?) was too strong and he would be lucky to win another race.. Based on that comment I would expect all the Casey fans to Vote for Valentino for not only an amazing comeback but totally dominating with another highest points tally...
