Tho i see his point, i dont really agree. WSBK is much more exciting these days and he isnt in that so life goes on without rider x or y.

sure people are his fans and rightly so, but one person is not bigger than a sport. if his fans left when he retires then they arent bike racing fans, just fans of his brand.

tho not taking away from the great rider he is and good racing he has produced, and the end of the day he is a just one rider.

I think that whether your a fan of a rider or a fan of the sport the reason we all love to watch is the same. It is the most exiting sport period. Having both types of fans just makes for good disscusions on forums like this. After watching a race coming here to see opinions is half the fun whether you agree with them or not.If there were no fans there would be no racing.

Long live the best sport ever!!!

Con'td from above -

Even though Rossi did win a lot in the 990 era, it was somewhat predictable but not boring because there were battles involved. Other riders like Casey and Pedrosa lead from flag to flag: for Casey I think its due to the nature of the 800's. For Pedrosa, I think that's just his style, he seems uncomfortable when he has to battle with another rider for position. He did the same in 990's and 800s. If I had to choose between someone winning all the time via checking out on the 1st lap (leading flag to flag) or someone winning all the time via good race battles - I'd pick the guy that provides exciting battles. To me that is not boring, but leading flag to flag is.

dray all im saying is that no man is bigger than a sport or should made out to be some sort of god.

i didnt say he was just 'another' rider. i said he is just a rider, yes a very very good one but so was ago, hailwood and duke. we survived when they left and it is no different. there is not an arguement that suggests it is different.

you are taken offence when there isnt any, thats what many peoples problem is. some, not all fans wont accept anything other than god like worship of him and thats a bit silly to many neutrals or normal race fans.

im a big alonso fan BUT he is a just a man and his job is driving which happens to be quite good and yes he has flaws to like all of us.

It's pretty clear that mr. Briatore has more knowledge of F1 rather than Motogp...

I concur with Dray on this one.

I think it is humorous that some people think that the only reason they watch is because it is racing. Give me a break. Go watch your local club racing if that is all that matters to you. Whether it be MOTOGP or WSBK, you're watching because of the elite talent and the personalities. Without the talent neither would matter, and neither would ever get televised. It's the talent that matters more than the sport itself. That's why it's a business and that's why people care. Without the talent it would just be club racing. We happen to be enjoying an era where the biggest talent is Valentino Rossi. That's pretty cool.

yes jodas but the point isnt that, the point being suggested is if rossi retired moto gp wouldnt be half as good, which just is not true. as one idol goes another would be born. everyone said imagine f1 with out schumacher, well it turned out to be quite easy. infact alonso had proved 2years before michael left that he could be beaten.

foggy was mr superbikes, then it was bayliss. doohan was mr GP now its Rossi. one day it could be dovi or ped or lorenzo.

thats sport. its the god like treatment he gets from the press and the odd excuses when he loses(which isnt often), like michael got that turn some people off. its not him he clearly is a awesome rider and 'one' of the best .

brendan, what's the problem if anyone gets God like treatment? That's what the whole business is about, isn't it? English love Rossi more than Hamilton, why? Have you thought about that?

BTW, Briatore knows what he's talking about within his senses. After all, he doesn't play marbles! Yes, any sport doesn't stop for anyone. But try to understand what Briatore was actually referring about. And, whom did you refer as 'one' of the best :)

Briatore Knows F/A about F.1.

i was referring to rossi being one of the best ever. i dont hate him. its not about giving one man god like treatment and the rest getting nothing or mocked . thats why people are turning to wsbk the coverage is biased.

he is one of the best ever, but so are others before him and will be after. no one is bigger that a sport thats all im saying he is a man like us.
