Tho i see his point, i dont really agree. WSBK is much more exciting these days and he isnt in that so life goes on without rider x or y.

sure people are his fans and rightly so, but one person is not bigger than a sport. if his fans left when he retires then they arent bike racing fans, just fans of his brand.

tho not taking away from the great rider he is and good racing he has produced, and the end of the day he is a just one rider.

The day Rossi will retire will be a good day! I'll miss Rossi and MotoGP will lack THE benchmark, but I'll not miss 70% of his fans who should focus on football instead. Maybe these fans should retire, so we can enjoy the great Rossi in a more relaxing way.

SW
Interesting Technique. Thats what I do all the time. Maybe you would brake all the way to a Dead Stop and than Shift your Front tire straight and than start engaging your first gear and move off. " Thats Racing SW thats Racing"

no dis to schwantz in 94 when he was defending champ, but he wasn't on his game. i think he was mentally (rainey) and physically (wrist) bolloxed. schwantz is one of the all time greats, Doohans record looks better than it is..

At Current stage of motogp without Rossi, Stoner will pretty much looks like Doohan which is runaway race winner.
At that time doohan's Honda NSR was like current Stoner desmosedici, deja vu?

Sport is defined by characters who raise themselves above the rest, and it's natural for people and the media to latch on to them. As much as i love watching bikes race and motogp in particular, i do wonder what it would be like without rossi.
I for one don't like the potential prospect of watching stoner or pedrosa getting flag to flag victories for the majority of races. On an unrelated note, Pedrosa never has a brolly girl, what's that about?

There are two arguments here
1. that when rossi retires all the people who support him will stop watching.
Some will i have no doubt stop watching motogp (does this make them not race fans??seems petty that) but think of the people who started to watch because of rossi who will keep watching(viewers/fans gained) a plus im sure.
2. wsbk is better than motogp.
nope, its just different. Both series have had 'golden' periods (hodgeson period was dull, dull) and they happen to be at opposite ends of the spectrum at the moment.

motogp needs to tweak the rules over the next few years. In truth it never should've stopped racing 990cc but hey i thought they never should've stopped 500cc!

people saying the sport will go on ok when he retires are not hatters morgue. they are just normal fans who have seen many of their favs and champions come and go. simple as that. some will look back on this era different to others, depends if they are fans or not.

but this is just a small part of motosport history, which will long continue and change.

wolfpac put it best. and like he says its a bit arrogant to think a sport with such great history will be ruined when someone retires. sure it will be a big moment, like it was when michael retired. then new blood comes in, creating new records maybe, or just producing good racing. real fans will remain others wont be missed. Thats it.

It's not a surprise that without Rossi MotoGP will be boring and not so popular like now...

And about Briatore... "he will not give Rossi a car"... Who will ask you??
