Tho i see his point, i dont really agree. WSBK is much more exciting these days and he isnt in that so life goes on without rider x or y.

sure people are his fans and rightly so, but one person is not bigger than a sport. if his fans left when he retires then they arent bike racing fans, just fans of his brand.

tho not taking away from the great rider he is and good racing he has produced, and the end of the day he is a just one rider.

NEWSFLASH!
Rossi raced this year, last year and the year before that. Was '08 a boring season? Generally, yes it was, apart from several different leaders, the races were runaways. What can we deduce from this? Easy, Rossis participation does not guarentee the spectacle of the sport! Wow, what a surprise! (except to real fans of the sport).
Mr Briatore has no idea (or chooses to forget, like many Rossi fans!) that Valentino didn't win the championship in '06 or '07 - and what refreshing change that made I must say. Rossi knows his time with the flashest team, bikes and tyres are over. Good ****in' riddance.

Wrong deduction my dear Watson,
what it proves is that the racing hasn't improved since the introduction of the 800's
nor has it become safer of have they slowed down the speed.
If you want to blame anyone for that (as seems to be the case) then blame Dorna

Dorna....Rossi, they're one and the same aren't they?
Neither would have experienced the prolonged success and benefits they've enjoyed without manipulation of the other.

Vale is without any question the most popular motor sport champion in the world, no motorcycle champion before has enjoyed such universal popularity these are undisputable facts in spite of what the G.O.A.T haters will say, sure moto gp would survive without the king but its poularity would suffer. as for WSB, if you put the top 4 moto gp riders into WSB on competitive bikes they would win, as JT said moto gp is a step up from WSB, the WSB riders are with the exception of Spies not in Moto GP top 4 class.

I blame 800's/dorna for the bore races we have had over the last two seasons.

Your right Layton, it was a bit tongue in cheek, sadly enough I believe there is a grain of truth to it. However, Valentino's part is surely at the mercy of Ezpoleta and the rest of the Spanish mafia. Rossi's decision to sign for another year or two may have given the sport some hope of a return to proper racing with a more even playing field for the also rans and the chance for new 'stars' to shine while he is still in the mix. Here's hoping there's several that show some gusto. Cheers.

There probably is Bob in the sense that they get a motherload of franchise money off the back of rossi and it would make sense for dorna to keep him sweet. Don't know if that happens now he's with Yam but Dorna have pandered to Honda's wishes in the past with breathtaking disregard for any other manufacturer.
That was why we went to 800's wasn't it, because Honda thought they would kick **** with the smaller capacity?

"Briatore: MotoGP not same if no Rossi."

Likewise, I'd say MotoGP not same if no Stoner
Rossi just too tough to be beaten on a competitive machinery, someone bike's must be a bit faster than Rossi in order to watch a thrilling race
