Last season, I can only think of one motogp race that really had me on the edge of my seat - Laguna. But when I think of the WSBK season, there were many races that had me bouncing up and down. I don't really care if the Motogp bikes go a little bit faster, for me, the thrill is to watch bikes going hammer and tongs and swapping places on a regular basis!!

I think the main differnce between the 2 series is the depth in field, Rossi, stoner, pedrosa, lorenzo, dovi, and haydon, no other rider can even think about winning, so really its a 4-5 man race, were sbk,Haga, spies, biaggi, corser, xaus, sykes, rea, kio, checa, so its closer and more exciting, but now with all the big guns on the same tyes this should make moto the star again i think we are in for the best racing in years. :D

Every WSB race was great to watch. Every Motogp race was not great to watch except Laguna. WSB racing is more exciting because there is more racing. I hope motogp dosn't go the way of F1 where all of the people at the track are there to be seen and the actual race dosn't matter. WSB has 2 races per meet as well. It really is the better of the 2, at least for those of us who like to watch motorbikes racing. All motogp has to do is get closer racing, perhaps the tyre rule will go some way to achieving that.

I can't say I am a fan of riders using their personal number, they should have to wear the number of the position they finished in the year before, thats how it was when I was a lad. Does anyone know who started this craze?

SW

In any legitimate prototype racing series there are going to be periods where a particular manufacturer/rider combination is better than the rest, if you go back far enough in GP you'll see its happened under virtually every set of rules they've had, Doohan/Honda being the first to come to mind. Maybe you haven't been watching GP for all that long buts thats the reality, and if they stuff around too much with the rules they will turn GP into something not worth watching anymore.

@Tommo: Barry Sheene maybe (number 7), followed by Kevin Schwantz #34? It was arguably the privilege of the greats to pick a personal number and as it was often higher than their championship position nobody seemed to bother.

I like watching WSB but im not obsessive about it like i am motogp even though there is more action in wsb its just not as prestigious and i dont feel the need to sit up all hours to watch it live.
Truth be told i like BSB more than WSB.

I like the lucky numbers thing but i cant think back further than Sheene/dunlop as far as that goes.

super sport usually throws up a good race those boys go at it hammer and tongs alas in some cases too hard. sorry to see 250s go they were always good for a scrap much bigger field and the bikes more evenly matched.

I read on a dutch site that there will be a race between Rossi and Bayliss in 2009 according to Solo Moto (spanish motor magazine)

14 of March on Losail circuit, second race of the Superbikes.

Rossi on a R1 and Bayliss on the Duc....

Would be cool but don't know if it's true...

Just to point out it was Yorkshires own Jamie Whitham who first used the number 69 because it was the same both ways up. That was in the late '80's, well before Hayden.

Hayden uses 69 because he's a dill-hole and the conotation of what that number stands for. But I'm sure he wouldn't admit it.

As far as which series is better that would be WSB for racing action hands down. Yes MotoGP has more prestige but with lack of exciting racing with Laguna being the exception and a dwindling grid they need to fix things fast. While a single tire rule may help a little I think they need to go to standard electronics. Yes it would be difficult but there are a lot smart people that can figure it out. In the end it would make GP racing fun to watch again instead of seeing one or two at the most fighting for wins.
