I love it when you guys at Crash do these things. Very interesting, a few suprises in there and total fact fodder from us anoracks...! Nice one Crash!

of particular interest was the team-mate v team-mate comparison.

Well... who cares about the stats, The quality of the race that matter most.

I was interested by these bits:

Average 2008 top 3 finish: 11.041sec - that's massive! shows the racing was not close.

Best and worst qualifying: 18. Marco Melandri: 11th - 18th. I know Melandri had a bad year but a best qualifying of 11thon a factory ducati?! that's really bad!

Average time difference between the top factory rider and the top satellite rider at the end of a 2008 race: 17.611sec - If you want to be competitive in motogp you need a factory bike. full stop.

Top satellite rider in 2008 qualifying: Andrea Dovizioso: 0 - Dovi needs to qualify better!

DNFs: =17. Alex de Angelis/Randy de Puniet: 5 - Some things never change!

Rider: First nine rounds points/Last nine rounds points (difference):
1. Valentino Rossi: 167/206 (+39)
2. Toni Elias: 33/59 (+26)
3. Sylvain Guintoli: 24/43 (+19)

18. Dani Pedrosa: 171/78 (-93) - Elias, Guintoli and West deserve credit for that improvement. Edwards and Pedrosa really did go downhill in second half of season.

12. John Hopkins: = (wins) -4 (podiums) -12 (championship) -132 (points)
13. Marco Melandri: = (wins) -3 (podiums) -12 (championship) -136 (points) - the award for worst career move of 2008 goes to these two!!

Totally off topic but does anyone know who will be televising motogp in the UK in 2009?
