I really hope this Aspar / Kawasaki deal come good.

Even though Team Green did not set the world alight, the idea of ANOTHER team going is just bad news. Roberts, Illmor, Aprilla and even KTM from the 250''s ..... its no good.

With WSB getting BMW & Aprilla back, MotoGP needs to pull its socks up & quick.

Even if like Kropotkins wrote, that he might only run 1 rider, well its better then nothing.

Its a last minute deal, but I feel the best man to pull it off is Aspar.

Good luck.

MOTOGP » Aspar to maintain Kawasaki presence?

Aspar could run semi-private Kawasakis in the 2009 season if the manufacturer pulls out.

Hmmm......I think it's not just the entry/riders aspect that Kawasaki is concerned about. That's the easy part. Would ASPAR(or anyone else)still be interested if Kawasaki says OK, we will supply/sell the bikes as is but no further development from our side? IMO, I doubt it. And just to have a presence would not be in Kawasaki's interest, I believe.

Just a presence.....of KAWASAKI, no need ! Just to arrange DORNA's problem of not getting 18 riders on the grid otherwise FEE to pay to the organisator ! DORNA has to change their politic ...reflecting more about the SPORT , how to keep down the expenses for the teams !!!! They just think about their own matters !
The team's situations are getting really bad and DORNA has to move in order to change the technical regulations which brought all at the heaven....costs are out of mind !

What ever happened to Team Roberts? I'm assuming it all came to nothing in the end? Casino sponsors pulling out etc?

If anyone knows it'd be nice to share. The TeamKR website hasn't been updated since Nov 07.

I don't know what anybody except about this deal. Kawasaki was usually very last on the grid in 2008, and whithout a maunfactury background Aspar would be more further from the front. But if they run this Kawasakies* in this year, what will he run in 2010?

* and what kind of bikes can Aspar get? The last years bikes, or the new model, which was tested maybe one or two times?

PS: sorry for my english...

ASPAR will get the last year bikes....as NO BUDGET ANYMORE for doing any modifications or updating....consequently a bike which will arrive some laps after the winner !!!!
Better leaving KAWASAKI on side for this season.

Aspar will pay lots of money to ride with Kawasaki so Kawasaki can still develop their bike but Apsar is paying for it.
If it goes wrong Kawasaki can blaim Aspar....

Just my thought.....

Dorna has pretty much ruined the great success Rossi gave MotoGP. 125 and 250 can still provide entertainment, but BBC don't cover it.

To foz 101 I seem to remember reading the other day that Roberts has shut down his Banbury site and sold off the equipment, so that would not seem promising. If someone of his stature can not raise sponsorship it does not look good for the sport, same goes for Fogarty and MV Augusta in WSBK.

Having Aspar run a team and Kawi to continue developing the bike may be the solution. Kawi can then blame poor results on Aspar not the bike. Aspar should consider Melandri and work hard on getting needed funding from Dorna and sponsors. But again better economics for Kawi maybe to develop it's superbike into a true contender in WSB.
