Kawi is a second rate bike in all but the 600 classes. Maybe if they do pull out of MotoGP, they can spend some money in all the Superbike series they currently compete. And maybe then they could have a competitive liter bike.

WSBK is way more fun to watch than MotoGP, and if Rossi were to up and leave tomorrow, GP would be nothing.

What I wouldn't give to see Rossi on a factory bike in WSBK, where then real competition is...

Superbike planet is now reporting Kawi is staying in GP due to the 20 million euro per season penalty they would have to face each year of 2009-2011 if they dropped out.

re GreenEnvy. Yes, EUR20 Million per each season missed is a good incentive to continue participating (Ouch!) What price though that they just turn up and go through the motions of competing ? They were poor last year and that was when they were really trying hard to be competitive. Shame really 'cos the Kawi is a great looking bike and sounds fabulous (Bring out "The Screamer" !) :)

If DORNA had invested in their own future as opposed to maximizing there profit on short term basis then perhaps new motorcycle markets could be developed, thus improving the bottom line of the motorcycle manufacturer. Lets make the MotoGP a world Championship. How many races are held on the African continent, South America and how many are in Europe/Spain?

Looks like DORNA are going to convince Kawasaki to stay in the championship, guess the only way they can do that is by flashing the cash, after all they seem to be the only ones who benefit financially from the championship.

There will be an announcment later tomorrow re Kawasaki WILL BE staying in GP. Martinez will run/own the team and Barty will still manage it (atleast for 09).

Only thing now will be if Aspar brings the sponser Hopkins will be moved aside for the spanish rider as Melandri is still wanted in GP by Dorna!!! :-o

Having been at the Autosport Show today and learnt of several redundancies within the motorsport industry, including at Haymarket Publishing (Autosport) and Bauer Media (MCN) I'll be very surprised if there aren't several other high profile failures to come in the next few months.

Renault F1 have disbanded their test team and all at Red Bull Racing including the test team are having to re apply for their jobs, with Grand Prix Racewear going under as reported here this week it's a desperate situation across the board.

Very interesting Darkwaknight, lets hope you are right otherwise Moto GP will be a very sad place this year, just imagine if Rossi departed and went rallying or whatever, then Moto GP really would be in big trouble.

This year WorldSBK looks to be in better shape and with potentially a much closer championship than in previous years, although we'll all miss Baylistic Troy.

I too have heard that an announcement will be made this week, although it's not going to be what you think, it will shock you all, nothing is as it seems.

Is that going to be an announcement from Kawasaki Japan or from Europe?
