Does anyone else think that Kawi are just using this as an excuse for giving up due to TERRIBLE results year after year?

If they were competitive would they still have withdrawn?

I bet Westy's got a bit of a grin on his face hearing this.

It''s a dark day for Moto GP fans.

I really hope that Aspar sort out a deal even though they must be mad for even thinking about it but I hope it happens. I wouldn''t run 2 Kawasaki''s without factory support, It''s just making up the grid numbers without a cat in hells chance of a top 5 finish.

A very sad day, we've had shock withdrawals in F1, WRC, ALMS/LMS, BTCC and now Moto GP, it's sadly a reflection of the state the entire world is in right now.

I hope that no more suffer in the recession, highly unlikely though.

Actually, I think you'll find there'll be several other shocks within motorsport before the season gets under way.

It is a sad day, almost back to the old days of 15 riders when if you finished you got a point.
This may happen if Suzuki quit, looking at their results over the years since Kenny's championship win they must be thinking seriously about it.

Terrible news this. I just hope Aspar can still pick up the pieces from this. I honestly wont miss hopper, But Melandri is a quality rider and doesn't deserve to be left out like this. I guess he'll be hanging round outside Dr Costa's trying to pick up rides this year.
