Although i have attended the GP @ Donington a lot they never have got to grips with adequate access and leaving the place is always a nightmare be it by car or bike.
The facilities for years have been woeful , the standard and cost of on site food frankly criminal so i''ll not mourn it''s loss.
I just hope Silverstone get it right , i''m sure they will have better facilities for getting out after the racing, all they need is the weather.

It''s a bad day for motorcycle sport especially losing Moto GP to Silverstone. The track is flat in poor condition veiwing is terrible, it just goes to show that money does buy anything. Donnington as provided us with excellent bike sport for years, they have invested a lot of money to build a great new track that will be excellent both for viewing and racing. Dorna as once again gone for the money instead of listening to the real bike fans of Britain. When Silverstone gets something else they will get rid of bikes ASAP, will they still use that mickey mouse chicane for Moto GP what a farce.

This is the beginning of the motogp downfall, a horrendous decision, another in a line of calamities from Dorna. If they are not careful, motoGP as we know it will die, the teams are unhappy about losing Eurosport (the series' foremost supporter for the last 13 years) and i think they will be equally less happy about this, especially given that Donington ranks up there as one of the riders (in all series, not just motogp) favourites and a place with a brilliant atmosphere!

Just had a look on the donington park website and the new plans look really good. Not just track layout changes but moving the whole pitlane complex onto the Dunlop straight. Shame MotoGP isn't going to be there but i was thinking about switching over to WSBK anyway as it is usually much closer racing and with BMW and Aprilia thrown into the mix it should be interesting. I'll watch British grand prix on the telly and ride to Le Mans....now theres a good idea.

You can tell who the proper bike fans are by their comments. Yeah Donington hadn't been updated for years until a couple of years ago but wasn't Silverstone in the same boat with F1. I bet half the people complaining have not noticed all the money spent to keep Donington secure, they must have a plan of action and that takes time. Going back to the racing which is what this is about Donington is the best circuit in the Country for MotoGP, BSB or WSB, saying that Oulton Park is awesome. Silverstone is not a bike circuit, it's boring just like F1 and you can't see anything, if your passion is for racing you know I'm right, MotoGP will never be the same until it goes back to Donington Park.

James. So who are the "proper fans" then? Would they be the ones you agree with?

You missed the point completely. It's about the fact of which circuit best suits the MotoGP, Silverstone is a car curcuit, it's a scalextric track boring as hell if you ride a bike, yeah fast in places but you can do that on a motorway. People who ride bikes like excitement, a challenge, a technical circuit like Donington, Cadwell and Oulton Park. I'm not bothered how long it takes to get out or what the food is like as they all have their problems. Show me a circuit where money has been spent in the UK, people go there to race not look pretty!!!!! Go to Muggello, the fans love their racing there, a 2.5 mile walk to the circuit on race day but they don't spit their dummy!!! F1 sucks :D

Commercial, commercial, commercial.

What about "the sport".

I've watched the 125/250 and MotoGP at Donnington and I liked the experience. I also like watching Donnington on the TV. For me the decision to leave it is a bad one as I think its a great motorcycle racing track.

I went to Donington in 1987 for the first, as we called it back then GP, the place was packed and continued for nearly every years up until 1998 when the 18,000 turned up (it was like a club meeting attendance) blame Doohans killer performances in 500gP for that, so infact rossi has reignited peoples passion for MotoGP at donington, cos he is exciting and people want ot see that.

MotoGP is on it's ****, trust me, i have been following the world championships since 1981, i was even at Donington in 1990 when 4000 people turned up for the WSB meeting, look ar WSB now.

As soon as Rossi does one, MotoGP will loose it's special ingredient, we'd have been better off sticking with the 500's.
